I have no idea if the story will turn out to be true, but if it is, then everyone involved has some explaining to do. It could also go a long way to explaining why help was denied these people.

Money quote:
Stevens’ mission in Benghazi, they will say, was to buy back Stinger missiles from al-Qaeda groups issued to them by the State Department, not by the CIA. Such a mission would usually be a CIA effort, but the intelligence agency had opposed the idea because of the high risk involved in arming “insurgents” with powerful weapons that endanger civilian aircraft.

Hillary Clinton still wanted to proceed because, in part, as one of the diplomats said, she wanted “to overthrow Gaddafi on the cheap.”

This left Stevens in the position of having to clean up the scandalous enterprise when it became clear that the “insurgents” actually were al-Qaeda – indeed, in the view of one of the diplomats, the same group that attacked the consulate and ended up killing Stevens.

I haven't followed the latest scandals very closely (IRS, AP phone records, and Benghazi) but it seems to me that every time there's any movement towards Mrs. Clinton in the Benghazi investigation, the press finds some excuse to bang the other two drums more aggressively. How likely is it that some in the press corps are actively trying to protect her ability to run in 2016?

If the rumors are true, we are DEFINITELY getting Dwight Howard.

Military help was offered, not State Department security. The Clinton State Department ignored repeated requests for additional security.

Don't confuse Maris. Please let him blame the dead guy...

Without getting too deep, I don't think it was Stingers to Al-Qaeda. But it's on the right track.

I don't care what the specifics are. I've also heard a rumor that we were arming the Syrian rebels. However, if it was something the Administration wanted to keep quiet for political reasons, and therefore didn't provide sufficient security or tried to rescue these people, then someone needs to go to jail. People died. People serving our country. They deserved better from our government than to be abandoned.

I heard that Hillary has a snuke in her snizz.

"Culture of Corruption"

Raymond Maxwell, who spent time in Iraq and Syria as well as a Marine, isn't a willing scapegoat. I applaud this brave American for trying to tell us all about the deceit and corruption at the core of the Obama/Clinton Machine.

Govt Official Says Hillary Spearheaded Benghazi Review, Not Independent Board

Raymond Maxwell was placed on forced “administrative leave” after the State Department’s own internal investigation, conducted by an Administrative Review Board (ARB) led by former State Department official Tom Pickering. Five months after he was told to clean out his desk and leave the building, Maxwell remains in professional and legal limbo, having been associated publicly with the death of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other American for reasons that remain unclear.

Maxwell, who served as deputy assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs from August 2011 until his removal last December, following tours in Iraq and Syria, spoke publicly for the first time in an exclusive interview with The Daily Beast.

“The overall goal is to restore my honor,” said Maxwell, who has filed grievances regarding his treatment with the State Department’s Human Resources Bureau and the American Foreign Service Association, which represents the interests of foreign-service officers. The other three officials placed on leave were in the Diplomatic Security Bureau, leaving Maxwell as the only official in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs (NEA), which had responsibility for Libya, to lose his job.

“I had no involvement to any degree with decisions on security and the funding of security at our diplomatic mission in Benghazi,” he said.

Your link, if you read the entire article, pretty much says he didn't perform his duties and ignored intel reports on security issues. Seems he was a big part of the problem and is lucky he wasn't still a marine. He'd be in Leavenworth for dereliction of duty.

Yes, that's what the "independent report" said, isn't it.

So the Obama Administration finds a black man for a scapegoat? Racists.
