A thousand millions is a billion

You're right it's 1.3 trillion. sorry, the phone calculator wouldn't go that high.

266,000,000 x 5,000 = 1,300,000,000,000

or the 2.66 billion extra cost.

50,000,000 x 5,000 = 2.5 billion paid out for free.

Phone calculator?!? You're Asian! You should be doing that shit in your head.

Try that one again, mags.

Calculator

I'm only "half-asian", so I can only get half the problem right

Re: If you like your Healthcare coverage, you can keep your Healthcare coverage! Peri

It sure ain't 266 trillion

No, it's not $266 trillion.

$266 billion is chump change tho.

Re: If you like your Healthcare coverage, you can keep your Healthcare coverage! Peri

Before ObamaCare, 266M x $4000 = $1.064 trillion
After ObamaCare, 317M x $5000 = $1.585 trillion
The insurance companies rake in an additional $521 billion

Thanks Obama! Where do we make out the campaign checks?

Shit I wish I was able to put it as simple as you… Well thanks for explaining what I was trying to say. :)

Re: If you like your Healthcare coverage, you can keep your Healthcare coverage! Peri

Well, that's assuming your numbers for price and population are right.

Somehow I think the cost of health care is way more than $1.5T.

More like 17% of GDP. Roughly $2.7T.

Re: If you like your Healthcare coverage, you can keep your Healthcare coverage! Peri

I just can't anymore…. I give up

No, you were spot on. We are being made to stand and take what is being done to us
by the Chief Democrats in charge. Haggling over how much he gets is not
very interesting. I think he is due for a hell of lot more than he planned on.
I have a feeling there are more than me that don't like this shit

I was going by the advertised national averages, said ironically by the "Obama Administration"; which is probably more skewed like you mentioned.

Obama is a curious case. Between claiming to know nothing of the NSA's wiretapping of foreign (allied) leaders to having no idea how his signature domestic achievement actually works, I really have to ask, who the hell is in charge in his administration? I freely admit that I voted for the guy the first time around because frankly McCain's age and Palin being next in line scared the hell out of me, but his incompetence is reaching W. levels

World Banks says 17.9% of GDP. I was off by .9%, must be the mad cow.

Obama claims average of $328.

Kaiser claims $215 in 2010.

328x12x317M = ~1.25T

$215x12x317M = $818B

ObamaCare policies cost $407B more than Kaiser policies. Enough to pay down half the deficit.

Hi all, I just came to say I am sad that it seems Obama has lied on many issues. I am most worried/upset on the NSA fiasco. I would still vote for him given the chance over McCain and Romney.

A solid post. And I agree with it 100%. Perhaps his real issues are the people around him.

It seems there are very few honest politicians around these days.

It's not like politicians have lied before, but there have been sooooo many promises that he's broke. In fact, there really hasn't been anything he promised that came true. I don't know why you would vote for him again. Could you imagine what damage he could do if he had another term?

Re: If you like your Healthcare coverage, you can keep your Healthcare coverage! Peri

I like how earlier this morning, the big news story on the front of a few news sites was that the White House knew that many people would lose their current coverage under Obamacare, yet the Obama continued to tell everyone they could keep their current health care (so he was lying through his teeth).

Hours later, despite a lack of significant news yet today, everything that makes the White House look terrible is removed from headlines (unless you go to Faux News).

Re: If you like your Healthcare coverage, you can keep your Healthcare coverage! Peri

I'm afraid the choice is boiling down to "liar or stupid?" Give the choice I'm actually hoping for liar; incompetence is the biggest sin in a "leader"

Apparently you didn't check cnn.com. Headline is "Obama Under Siege: Obamacare, NSA, Benghazi -- an axis of trouble". Sounds like the opposite of removing EVERYTHING that makes the White House look terrible.

Re: If you like your Healthcare coverage, you can keep your Healthcare coverage! Peri

Well Obama did promise "change" and boy is this economy gonna change!!!!!!

Admittedly, I didn't check every news website. But when 3-4 major websites had removed the articles (at least from top headlines) and replaced with random garbage, it makes you wonder. And many of the sites changed article titles from things that had far less negative connotation (Can't remember the headline on CNN earlier, but it was more negative than "Obama under siege".). I'm not arguing one way or the other, just noticed something, made the observation, and posted it. This wasn't a full-on opinion piece, nor was it an all-inclusive scientific experiment/observation. I apologize for my lack of disclaimer.

I will say I've seen these types of things happen with Obama over the years, more so than I did with Bush.

You have to factor in that we're now going to be getting "free" preventative care. Go in for an annual physical, regular vaccinations, the occasional endoscopy, etc. and you account for a pretty good chunk of that extra $1,000. Instead of individuals making the decision about whether then need and want to pay for these "freebies", we all get to pay for them because the Obamacrats know better than us and are forcing us to pay for them whether we use the services or not.

Re: If you like your Healthcare coverage, you can keep your Healthcare coverage! Peri

What's amazing to me is how F'd up Cover Oregon is and how little play the mess of it is getting in the local media. Something like 17 states decided, like Oregon, to run their own exchanges. Oregon's is the only one that's totally inoperable as of today. Read this guest column from OregonLive and you'll understand some of the confusion and frustration facing self-employed people like me: http://www.oregonlive.com/opinion/index.ssf/2013/10/a_case_study_in_cover_oregon_d.html

Like Obama, Kitzhaber needs to step forward and own this fiasco. Build a health exchange and apparently don't even bring in a single CPA to make sure that basic income can be calculated correctly? Fricking morons.

Hurray! Trailblazer basketball starts tomorrow No more thinking about Obamacare! err it does occur to me that a little one on one with the SOB would be a hoot! Oh damn! Have to quit that sort of thinking. I do wish I was through with the yearly insurance sign up dance though, now the next appointment is way out, Nov 23rd. WTF? this is ridiculous! I think I will write my Senator, and suggest they scrap plans for the USS Barrack Obama, no sailor of sound mind would want to serve on it anyway. With a name like that, you might as well give it the motto
"If you like it, you can die with it!!" The USS Benghazi Kamikaze would elicit more trust.

Thank God for Basketball, Tomorrow! Go Blazers!

I actually wouldn't mind as much if the money was being spent on those things. The money would be going to doctors and nurses and hospitals. Instead, it's being spent on "insurance." A good chunk of that money is going to "profit" on the insurance companies' financial statements.

It's a good time to buy into insurance companies

I wouldn't be too quick to mount that pony. A whole lot of people need to do more than stand for this plan. The have to buy the insurance before you count the profits.
And most of them haven't even see noticed Yet they are going to be screw as Barrack hold their tether.

Still looking for a Google translator to help me make sense of this sentence. I know for certain that I don't want Barrack holding my tether though.

Well of course it is. What else can you expect when industry lobbyists write the bills for our congress to rubber-stamp?
