I, for one, have been begging for a couple of years now for some offensive flow that doesn't revolve around high pick-and-???s that generally never evolve into -and-rolls. Last year there was a bit of hi-lo with LMA in the high post. There've been a couple of times that the roller has been passed to. But for the most part, we're a jump-shooting offense, with most of our shots of the long-two variety--the most inefficient shot in basketball.
The first quarter was great for me on the offensive end (I don't think I need to bring up defense, do I?). It was the highest-scoring and most efficient quarter tonight. Why?
he're my quick hitting first (and part of the second) quarter log:
Miller: 4-9, 7/8FT
Rudy: 3-9, 0/2FT
Travis: 1-8 2/2FT
Blake: 1-4, 0FT
Total: 9-30, 9/12 FT
Center Position:
Oden: 2-3, 2/2FT
Joel: 1-2, 0FT
Total 3-5, 2/2 FT
And people wonder why Barkley calls us a jump-shooting team.

Enjoyed Nate opening it up a bit. Liked Roy attacking and knowing no one could stop him. He had something working and kept with it. Hated Greg only getting 3 shots. And based on what I saw tonight, his only TOs were 3-in-the-keys, he made his FTs, he made 2 of his shots, and didn't turn the ball over. All while (at least in the first) showing some pretty good recognition and passing skills. What more, I ask, does the guy need to do?1st possession…Oden w/nice spin move to basket, but Roy doesn’t throw the over-the-top lob. Reset, then pass to Oden who draws the double, kicks cross-court to Webs, quick pass to Roy for open 3 (missed). Good example of “involving” the big to make good things happen for the team, w/o “basing the offense around him”.
10:14—getting Blake the ball down low turns into a TO. But at least he was looking for the cutter.
Next possession, started inside, worked to wide-open 3 for Blake (missed).
5th—Love seeing the double-screens with Roy and Webs coming off middle screens to both sides.
6th—Good inside position by Greg, and he gets the pass, and he gets the lefty hook to go down.
7th—quick jumper by Webster; would rather not take that long J early in the clock.
8th—good recognition by Oden to go over the top to Webster for the layup
6:43: great seeing the triangle look, seeing passes to odd angles, even if it ends up with the normal LMA jumper, it was wide-open and had HOU on their heels.
5:59—they’re letting Blake shoot from behind the pick, he needs to make those…big shooting slump.
3:53—Im scared of seeing Lowry and Brooks against Miller/Roy/Rudy. Let’s see if they can make it work.
2:44 I’m not sure I know why landry should go around Outlaw that easily.
I went a long time b.w comments. Not a lot I like right now.
8:58 I like that Miller’s punishing Lowry being on him
…and they go away from that.
Blake’s just not making anything. We're going back to being a jumpshooting team. Guh.
And Ariza can’t miss.
And this is getting sickening. Time to stop.
