I think he's got a much better chance than most to play 'etch-a-sketch' successfully. It's already clear that his supporters don't really care what he says or what his positions are.

I'll have to admit that I have absolutely no idea why people are supporting him. He absolutely repulses me. That said, I don't get how Democrats can be blind to Hillary's ample flaws, or willing to hold their noses enough to vote for her. To me, this is the year when the entire country went absolutely insane.

Edit: Man, that's a lot of "absolutelys". I must absolutely mean what I said absolutely.
 
Trump or Cruz supporter here, if you used e verify, illegals would not be able to get a job in the US and would self deport. We need to crack down on employers who hire illegals and city and states that help them out. If here illegally they have broken the law and should not qualify for subsidies from the American tax payer. US born children would be allowed to stay but would be up to the parents to provide care for them.
Laws need to be changed to a baby is only a citizen if born to legal residents.
We need to build the wall because the politicians have proven we can not trust them to keep illegal people out.
Change the laws if you want to allow more legal immigrants in to this country, but require some skills of those you let in.
Most that have came just want a better life but how many laws have they broken to be here, Do you really want to reward them.

I agree on cracking down on employers. An illegal can not get welfare or food stamps.

What is bad is the bank giving the mortgage in the first place. I wonder how much tax dollars went to the banks to save them from the loans they made to illegals?

Actually I don't see a problem with a Bank giving a loan to an immigrant. There isn't a law against the transaction and the Bank does not have anyway to know when the immigrant becomes illegal.
It is only illegal to work here, not be here unless you exceed the time limit or are without the visa, but I don't think that should be a banks concern. I don't think the bank gave them a FHA loan legally if that was the deal. If so then, I am sure they were in some sort of violation of Federal law.

Bailout of FDIC banks is one thing, bailout of commingled banks, commercial/investment banks is another and should cease immediately. Bring back Glass-Seagull! yes yes, I know, SP.
Risk for private Profit mixed with loses for public sharing sucks.

Roughly, I would characterize the sides as "liberal gay loving immunity supporting pussies" and "redneck wall building racist Bible lovers"

I think my proposal makes both sides happy.
 
There needs to be a few things in place.

1) a path towards legal residency and possibly citizenship. Could include a touchback, a background check, a time frame without conviction or serious arrest, a demonstration of willingness to work, train or get education. But there should be a way.
2) put the onus on businesses to hire legally or pass bills to permit legal hiring of migrants and immigrants with appropriate pay/benefits. If a business hires an illegal without permit, there should be a very steep fine. Money is what businesses understand.
3) ssn issued and comprehensive background check here and wherever they emigrated from. If conviction of anything remotely serious, DUI and up, denied and kicked out.

These are the basics as I see it.
 
New immigrants should be qualified and show they can contribute something more than low skilled uneducated manual labor which is what a lot of the illegals coming in are basically are. Path to citizenship? Get in line with the rest of the world.

Lots of really smart and bright people around the world want to be here but the process is fucked and back logged. It's a zero sum game with immigration.
 
The ones that are already here should get in a line too. And then they would all be citizens. The issue is, some people want to "round them up!"

The problem is if you make it merit based entry, they probably wouldn't qualify. That's why they enter illegally. They weren't the top of the food chain in their county to begin with

America has always been welcoming of the marginalized of society, of the poor, and the meek, etc. I actually think there is a well known poem about it.

Seems to have worked out pretty well so far.
