A long line of cis men declaring themselves experts on what is not fair to women.
Women have great variation in hips.
Some women are so narrow hipped they need C section to give birth.
But facts never stopped men from declaring themselves experts on female biology.
Not giving birth apparently qualifies men, in their minds, to be experts on pregnancy.
Thread is incorrectly titled. It should be "I think trans people are icky".
Every female athlete I've discussed this with has been opposed.

Do you actually think this is good competition?

This is going to be interesting because allowing trans to compete against women is unfair to biological women, however not allowing them to compete is unfair to trans folks. If we allow this then the eventual outcome will be men's sports and not men's sports, women athletes will be phased out.
Well this shouldn't be a problem with most on here. Females (except livestock) have been phased out of all your lives (and your mom's basements) for years anyway. You'll adapt. #BAM

Funny. Not sure about everyone else, but I live in a household of myself and 5 women...

What is a fe male?

I'd prefer to not have a "former male" compete with my daughter on the pitch. Just my opinion.

Sure it is. Women are women, aren't they?

If you don't allow them to compete as women, then they aren't women.
I'm not allowed to compete in the NBA. Doesn't mean I'm not a man. Shaq isn't allowed to compete in men's college basketball... Doesn't mean he's not a man.

It just means we're not elligable to compete at that level.

Why are you not allowed to compete in the NBA? Because you don't have the skillset? That's a completely different concept. You ARE allowed to compete, you are just not good enough.

Yes you can. I can't play in the WNBA, even if I were good enough.

You are not a woman. It is a woman's league. They can't exclude a woman from playing in the league, whether she's biologically one or a transgendered one.

If you transitioned or self-identified, you should be eligible. I'm not sure if there are a biological definition of a woman in the WNBA.

If I'm not eligible as a man then that is discrimination by gender. By definition.

Nobody is suggesting transgender or self identitified people should be excluded from playing a sport, just that they be required to play at the highest level their professional status would allow. So HS athletes should be allowed to play vs HS boys. College athletes would be allowed to play men's college sports until they turned pro... Etc.

If you can't compete against men then you aren't skilled or talented enough to compete.

The same men who, for years, derided women's sports, ridiculed female athletes' looks and sexuality, questioned whether some were really women, are now so all fired concerned about girls' and women's sports? Not to the point of wanting equal funding at high school and college level, or equal pay for female pro athletes. No, their supposed concern is all about banning trans girls and women. And for good measure, banning them from public restrooms, which have nothing to do with sports.
Not buying.

Is a transgender woman a woman?

So then she is a woman. And can play women's sports.
She's a man that went through a transition to a women. In this case with the swimmer, she was a competitive swimmer as a man, on the mens team. Do you think she has an advantage as already an athlete competing against women? I would say yes.
And in this case, even the women competitors are saying she does have an advantage.

She is a woman. She should be able to compete as a woman.
