Very much agreed. Unfortunaely, there are some in here who don't like Him, either.

Then why is his teachings, why is the Bible being used as a means to divide people, a means of hatred. Why is it being used to discriminate against the LGBTQ community? Against Women? Etc etc. Do you think Jesus would be down with that? The dude who loved everyone, no matter what? Where has that part gone? Why isn't that part being followed?
 
There are also don't say gay laws. Moves to end marriage equality. Banning teaching anything that makes white people uncomfortable. Bringing back forced Christian prayer in school. Bills explicitly allowing companies to discriminate.

I don't think anyone has a problem with Jesus here. The problem is with how Christianity is being used/abused to propagate hate rather than love. It's the hypocrisy that there is a problem with.

It's a veritable dichotmy.

Context. This a parable, on beliefs dividing people. It's not him saying that he wants division or that we should hate each other or translate what he has to say as a means to divide. He is saying hey, as a result of Christianity, families get split up, friends get split up. He is not telling his followers to sow conflict and division (which is the way many christians have seemed to translate it). He is warning them, they may find themselves divided.

I believe just after that, he speaks of hypocrites.

In fact he wishes peace for everyone, not just his followers in many other parts of the Bible.

Romans 12:16 - 19

"Live in harmony with one another."

"If it is possible as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone "

My 7th and 8th grader were asking us questions about religion etc. Somehow The Flying Spaghetti Monster came up. So they Googled it. Man did that take off... They are having an awesome time spreading it throughout the middle school.

They said they had their teacher in tears laughing so hard.

They've had 6 teachers quit this year due to stress, so it was awesome to hear.
