OK, just for the sake of understanding your viewpoint: If a transgender woman were to walk into a similar situation (a so-called traditional women's locker/pool area whereas most/all of the women and children are naked) with their junk hanging out in all its glory, would you see a problem with that? I certainly would. It's the main reason I maintained there should be some type of signage at the entrance of the facility. Issue solved.

Me thinks the word has gotten out in the trans community about Wi Spa's inviting policies - whether they're published/stated, or not.

Apparently gay folks wanted to join the military for the sole purpose of staring at straights in showers. Military could take on armies but we're terrified by gays. Now it's trans people supposedly exposing themselves in women's restrooms.

We had a gay man in our unit up at Ft. Lewis, Washington back around 1969. No one denigrated him. We were all just curious. I remember him answering a thousand questions. And that was the Army.

And that statement is full of crap. As an alternative example, nude beaches aren't allowed in Oregon unless otherwise posted. I think that's the case. Why is there signage of such? Should we just go ahead and allow people to be naked in public? If not, then why not? What would it be called - nakephobia?
 
When someone enters a spa that advertises clothing optional they should expect to see bare bodies.

Not a word about Trump's anti trans executive orders which President Biden overturned. Not a word about uptick in violence against trans people, especially trans women of color. Or state laws forbidding parents and children from deciding in consultation with medical specialists best health care options. Or laws requiring children who want to play sports having genitals inspected by school authorities. Just endlessly repeated story about penis. You sure do have a thing about penises.

So yes, I do question commitment to understanding.

You probably should avoid flying anywhere..there's a security guard in a room looking at you and your wife's naked body after the security scan...and you don't even know those people....people are naked in public....read a National Geographic magazine about indigenous tribes....your fears of nudity are just your own fears of your own reactions to nudity....control yourself man! What you really fear is getting aroused by nudity ...not nudity itself...were you offended by the film Schindler's list when prisoners were paraded around nude? Did you boycott Speilberg movies after seeing them? How do you handle the art world filled with nude depictions of human anatomy? I'm calling out this selective outrage as nothing more than personal inhibition

The purpose of trans people's lives is not to expose themselves to cis folks.

Just wanted to make that clear since someone here seems confused on that point.

Rooster Rock used to be swim suit optional. Took my wife there. We both had swim suits on. My wife was shocked. She now has evolved and tolerates nudity but has no wish to participate.
I have not heard that Rooster Rock has changed their policy.

I am threatened. Seems like if you see nudity you can be transformed into a gay or worse yet a lesbian. Shudder. High School? Don't need no stinkin' high school. Third grade was good enough for pa and my cousin wife so that's good 'nuff fer me. Kids? They don't need no bo0k larnin'.
Had a guy in my Basic Training platoon from rural California who was kind of like that. He called a bear a 'bar'. Nice guy though, even though he couldn't read or write. Couldn't sign his own name but even the hard core trashy guys who threatened these two guys who couldn't pass the most elementary physical tests who both got threatened with these hard cores got both barrels from me. I threatened to chop off the hand of anyone who gave them a GI shower that I would take my entrenching tool and chop off a hand. The harassment of these two guys halted from that time on until the end of Basic. Oh, and I was driven to mean it. Those guys were ultra hard core but they couldn't take me on. Still get angry just remembering it.

There are a lot of incredibly cruel, hateful people out there. It's a terrible reality. In my case, it's more of a case of acceptance and adjustment. I'm still dealing with all of that.

I shared a story in here about my 14-year-old great-nephew who wants to be a girl. He's told the family that, once he turns 18, he plans to have the surgery. My niece is struggling with all of that. She very much loves her only little boy (she has 3 girls, as well), and wonders - wonders - why he has made this decision. Some of the things going through her mind: Has she been a bad mom? Has the fact that Alex's father is narcissistic and not been an involved father been a factor? Is Alex being encouraged by external sources? She's just not sure. Fact remains, though, that she loves him very, very much...yet, nonetheless, is still struggling with it all.

The rest of our family is completely supportive and, naturally, we want the very best for Alex, however that shakes out. OK, I've wanted to step in some and maybe spend some time with him - you know, just hang out and do some cool stuff together. You know, guy stuff. But that would entirely be Lisa's and Alex's call. Meanwhile, she's going through a divorce, so that hasn't helped any. She currently lives in Park City, UT, but will be moving soon to Seattle with Alex and one of his sisters. All in all, it's a very complex situation. As I mentioned, the rest of the family is being 100% loving and supportive. We don't know a lot of the specific dynamics, but that really doesn't matter. We're just there...as we should be.
 
I am glad you are trying to support your young relative, so may I politely suggest not mis gendering her?
