If you blinked you missed the complete destruction of women's sports. Maybe should post in Olympics thread but that was predicted when a transgender woman qualified for the Australian weight lifting squad. Women's weight lifting is very far from glamour event but this year media turned out en masse to proclaim how trans women's supposed unfair advantage would destroy women's sports, plus they would assault innocent white girls in locker rooms, something that has never actually happened. Well, she bombed. Three cis women won medals.

And yes, ABM, if you misgender someone, even if accidental, it's appropriate to say "I'm sorry for my mistake". Like it would be if you mistakenly called someone by the wrong name.

I hear ya. I think their attitude towards me made all the difference. I mean, why couldn't she have been a bit nicer about it? People are people. Be nice, folks.

I agree that it would be appropriate to apologize if you misgender someone. I'm undecided on transgender people competing in biologically male or female sports. It seems to me that the potential for a competitive advantage exists there.

Yeah, but remember she's probably taken a lot of shit. Sometimes you have to suck it up and be polite when the other person isn't. If you politely called a lady Ms. Rodriguez and she snapped at you "It's Ms. Ramirez" you were polite and she was testy but still, saying I'm sorry is in order.

Let me tell you an unrelated true story. I have severe fragrance sensitivity. I just cannot be in a room with people wearing scented products and have to arrange my life accordingly. When my mother died, the funeral was in Southern California where she lived but my brother hosted a memorial up here in his home. The idea was to get together in a less formal setting, share memories, etc. He asked everyone to be scent free. A friend of his, who knows me, showed up wearing perfume. It was November so going outdoors wasn't an option. I had to immediately leave. MONTHS later she called and apologized. And I was pretty damn testy. Perhaps I should have been nicer because it was a mistake but I was forced out of the memorial to my own mother because she forgot. You know, we still are coldly polite when we see each other and when she hosts social events invites my sister and brother but not me.

Obviously not in this case. And you know most of the time it's not Olympics, we are talking of 12 year old girls playing soccer.

just because that gal didn’t win the weightlifting competition doesn’t mean a transgender person doesn’t have a competitive advantage. And I may be tone deaf, but I’m not familiar with an outcry over 12 year old trans gender girls playing soccer.

Thought I'd do a quick check related to the OP. Guess this thing is still ongoing. Film @ 11. Errrrr.......wait.

Five Women Have Filed Police Reports Alleging Indecent Exposure at Wi Spa

A total of five women have filed reports with the Los Angeles Police Department regarding a June 23 incident at Wi Spa, all of them claiming to have seen male genitals exposed in the women’s section of the Wilshire Boulevard health club.

One of the reports states that a woman “observed [the suspect] exit a jacuzzi fully nude. Victim observed male genitals on the suspect and became scared and upset.”

The incident went viral last month when one of the alleged victims—a woman known as “Angel”—posted a video to social media of her confronting the spa’s staff, claiming to have seen a nude man in the section designated for women. “So, it’s OK for a man to go into the women’s section, show his penis around the other women, young little girls—underage—in your spa? Wi Spa condones that, is that what you’re saying?” Angel could be heard saying to a masked spa worker, who seemed to assume the patron in question was transgender. “I see a dick! It lets me know he’s a man. He’s a man. He is a man. He is not no female.”

The video led to two weekends of out-of-control protests, with opposing political forces squaring off in the streets outside the spa. It also bred widespread suspicion that the video was a hoax meant to generate outrage about a hot-button topic. The video got major traction on Twitter and was aired on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show.

Almost immediately, the discussion turned to trans rights, although it was never confirmed the nude person the women report they saw in the spa was trans. When Los Angeles contacted Wi Spa in June, management provided a statement pointing to California Civil Code 51 (b), which makes discriminating against trans and other gender non-conforming people in business establishments illegal in the state. “Like many other metropolitan areas, Los Angeles contains a transgender population, some of whom enjoy visiting a spa,” the statement goes on. “Wi Spa strives to meet the needs of all its customers.”

On two recent Saturdays, July 3 and July 17, protests have drawn battling factions to the downtown-adjacent Westlake neighborhood, including members of the Proud Boys and a group calling itself SoCal Antifa. During the second protest, more than 30 arrests were made as protesters flung projectiles at police and many refused to disperse after an unlawful assembly was declared

Angel was the first alleged victim to file a report with the LAPD, which she did on July 6, after the first weekend of protests. More women came forward in subsequent days and weeks with their accounts, claiming to have “observed male genitalia.”

Plenty of schools and even states around the country are banning children from playing sports as their expressed gender.

Always the marginalized people being told to be understanding. Ask straight white males to be understanding and get accused of wokeism, political correctness, critical race theory or being a snowflake.

Thanks for reminding me that I need to pay my yearly dues to the Straight White Male club. We vote yearly on how we're going to oppress and piss off the rest of the world.

People taller than me have a competitive advantage at basketball. I would like them all banned from the sport.

This is how planks were invented.

I was raised to say "Yes Ma'am" and "Yes Sir". I've been corrected and felt terrible.

So now I say "Thanks so much!" or something similar.

In the South, "Thanks hon" works in all cases.....bless their hearts.

Why separate womoen’s sports from men’s sports period?

Ha, your story reminds me the one time we took my mother in-law on a Universal Studio studio tour (the 1hr bus ride tour). Like many Vietnamese old ladies, she likes to put on green oil when she’s not feeling well (they treat green oil like it’s an elixir for just about every illness). She wasn’t feeling well because she’d been out in the sun for too long that day, so she put on some green oil. A young woman that sat next to her threw a major hissy fit. It was bad enough they had to stop the bus and escorted that woman out. I thought we were getting kicked off the bus too, but apparently the smell was coming from a kid behind us. I think he vomited on his shirt on a ride he was on earlier. Anyway, it scared my mother in-law enough that she never put on green oil anymore when she’s in a crowded place in public.

Does green oil smell?

Dude, I remember when I worked in the grocery business in my teens as early 20's (in Lake Oswego). I'll never forget DMSO. It stunk to high heaven! However, its users swore by it. They rubbed it on what hurts. Either way, whenever I encountered that smell, I couldn't get away quick enough.

My Niece's boyfriend has put my 14-year-old trans wannabe great nephew to work on their home construction worksite, calls him/her "Pedro" (they have a number of Hispanic workers there) and says make your bed every morning before going to work or we're gonna turn it into a guess room. Tough love. LOL

Wow. That's fucked up in so many ways.

It was obvious by the LOL you think it's funny,

Alex is still a boy. Pericles (my Niece's boyfriend) is a man's man, yet sensitive to Alex's dilemma (his father was/is a narcissist and non-existent in his life) and is now showing him some of the the things in life that relate to manhood. Alex is eating this stuff up. We all love it. The so-called trans thing may just be a "fad" after all. Either way, Pericles is showing the boy love, respect, and accountability. It's all solid stiff.

A man's man would be either a boyfriend life partner or husband or cellmate....it's not Marlboro country anymore!

Oh, gee...I almost forgot. Thanks for your insights.

I just can’t imagine anything on the planet that would be less of a “fad” than a boy dabbling in being trans. It’s literally asking for the hardest, most judgemental thing possible. Boys (and girls) don’t dabble or pretend with this stuff. Now, I think many people might not know themselves or question their sexuality, are confused and so on. But a fad? No.

DMSO is odorless.

People who never notice their own farts tend to project them on things like DMSO...not that I have any experience in the field...just the occassional elevator slip

Incest is still legal in Tennessee?
