Hmmm...
My best guess, a straight cis man with no knowledge of trans people. Very likely no interest in women's sports.Who is this guy?
Oh certainly, but does he hold institutional power or is he just a guy with a gear loose? My best guess, a straight cis man with no knowledge of trans people. Very likely no interest in women's sports.
No power--just an author with a following.Oh certainly, but does he hold institutional power or is he just a guy with a gear loose?
Seems to be a pretty big fan of women's sports. My best guess, a straight cis man with no knowledge of trans people. Very likely no interest in women's sports.
I disagree. Just like it's not hard for people to be racist and support black athletes.Hard to be a misogynist and support women's sports.
I think that's a bit different. They see Black people as entertainers. Black male athletes fit stereotype of hyper masculine stud. As long as they shut up and dribble.I disagree. Just like it's not hard for people to be racist and support black athletes.
Bruce Banner, is the you?So progressive! Men being allowed to fight female boxers at the Olympics.

You're in luck - your trolling provides you with an opportunity for enlightenment. According to you, Maria Patino is a man.So progressive! Men being allowed to fight female boxers at the Olympics.

This is so wrong.
And yet a poster here concluded without evidence she is genetically male and should not be allowed to participate in women's sports. That boxer is not transgender. She was born with a condition that makes her have elevated testosterone levels similar to a male's.

She is not male. She is a female with a disorder that causes her to have xy chromosomes and testosterone levels indicative of a male. She is not transgendered. That isn't allowed in her country.
This is a tough situation for her, the other Olympic boxers, and the organization that decides eligibility. She is listed as female on her passport and birth certificate and they did a thorough examination. So, it's been determined she's a woman and they must let her compete. There is an outcry they are letting a man fight women.
She didn't ask for the disorder that gave her all this strength. She is a woman and she is trying to box as a woman. She is being called a man, is being trashed on social media, and has to deal with the price that will come with winning.
The other women competitors are at a disadvantage. The disorder gives Khelif a big edge. She has the power of a man in a woman's body. These other women are taking hits they haven't taken before in their careers. None of them will probably be able to beat her.
It sucks all around.
It's not like they're even some unbeatable force.
Their record is 9 wins and 5 losses.

She. Her.
No, she is not unbeatable. I'm not sure who she lost to.
Ah, the generation gap. Young folks do this all the time, even when it's obvious which one the person being referred to identifies as. I feel you @Chris Craig but we are the dinosaurs."They" is a perfectly acceptable way of referring to someone. It's gender neutral.
It's not a disorder, it's just being "intersexual." Contrary to the MAGA crowd, biological sex is not a simple binary, it's a spectrum. By all of the standards in place prior to the discovery of chromosomes, nobody would question that she is a she. It might be Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome (Jamie Leigh Curtis is rumored to be an example of this) but there are plenty of others. She is not male. She is a female with a disorder that causes her to have xy chromosomes and testosterone levels indicative of a male. She is not transgendered. That isn't allowed in her country.
