In April, I haven't been to Mexico since I was 19. Anything changed? I'm going to be in Puerto Vallarta. Not my decision, I thought Cancun was the tits. All inclusive, swim up bar. At the very least I'll be tanked all week.

During spring break? Are you bringing sand to the beach? I've only been to PV on a cruise stopover, thought it kind of sucked compared to Cabo.

I've heard that the beach water in Puerto Vallarta sucks. I'll probably just kick it in the pool.

Have a GPS tracking chip implanted so the Federales can find you and charge you less for your freedom than the kidnappers...

Its pretty dirty. Dunno, lots of crackaz like going there though, so it might be ok. Town was pretty lame. Never did any nightlife though.

cab driver offered me some yayo there. I think they call it yayo.

And mexico is a bit more dangerous nowadays. It just is. I mean if you're in a resort just chillin you should be fine though.

An acquaintance recently got jacked for his wallet, his shoes, and his hoodie in PV. Not that far from resorts, but supposedly he and two friends were walking some side street. Dude rolls by on a bike and puts a gun to one of the dudes in the group. That'd definitely ruin a vacation.

Went to Cabo 5 years ago and did a lot of walking around the town. Never felt unsafe. Maybe it's just different on the Baja, or maybe we were just lucky. :dunno:

Cabo is relatively safe imo. However, there was a shooting at the shopping center next to the Marina a couple of years ago. Fortunately nobody got hurt.

Explore dark areas outside of PV while flashing wads of cash. It's exciting!

1, 300 beheadings in Mexico over the last 5 years. 260 a year.

How many in the US over the last 5 years? Better yet, how many US beheadings since 1776?

Cabo is usually safe because its not really on the drug route from south america. Its separated by a body of water.

Statistically speaking you would be far safer visiting Iraq, Iran, N. Korea and probably Syria.

There's a meth problem in Lapine. That doesn't mean all of Oregon has a meth problem.

Having lived in Lake Oswego, Milwaukie, Portland and La Pine I can say for a fact La pine has far less of a meth problem than anywhere I have lived. It really has no drug/crime/violence problems to speak of at all when compared to anywhere on the wet side of Oregon.

The State Dept has a detailed travel warning for Mexico, as it does for most dangerously unsafe countries. Check it out.

Millions of U.S. citizens safely visit Mexico each year for study, tourism, and business, including more than 150,000 who cross the border every day. The Mexican government dedicates substantial resources to protect visitors to major tourist destinations, and there is no evidence that Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs) have targeted U.S. visitors or residents based on their nationality. Resort areas and tourist destinations in Mexico generally do not see the levels of drug-related violence and crime that are reported in the border region or in areas along major trafficking routes.

Nevertheless, U.S. travelers should be aware that the Mexican government has been engaged in an extensive effort to counter TCOs which engage in narcotics trafficking and other unlawful activities throughout Mexico. The TCOs themselves are engaged in a violent struggle to control drug trafficking routes and other criminal activity. Crime and violence are serious problems and can occur anywhere. U.S. citizens have fallen victim to criminal activity, including homicide, gun battles, kidnapping, carjacking and highway robbery. While most of those killed in narcotics-related violence have been members of TCOs, innocent persons have also been killed. The number of U.S. citizens reported to the Department of State as murdered in Mexico was 71 in 2012 and 81 in 2013.

La Pine has an overall crime rate of 16 per 1,000 residents, making the crime rate here near the average for all cities and towns of all sizes in America. According to our analysis of FBI crime data, your chance of becoming a victim of crime in La Pine is 1 in 61.

Aren't I supposed to mock Zags for telling us his personal plans? Or are we all over doing so a this point? It's hard to tell when you're dealing with a man entering his 30s who still thinks he's 22.

I got your itinerary once a week over in the Ducks forum.
