I'm just going to post this here and back away slowly...

I don't see a problem with it. Who didn't talk a little smack in college?

Damn... when I make it to the NBA they're going to dredge up all kinds of mean things I said on here. I hope I don't end up playing with Mo, Babbitt, or Leonard.

OMG! Young twenty year olds players using racial and gay slurs. GTFO!

Are we even sure these are real? I read them earlier and wasn't convinced. If it is and they kept that stuff on their twitter after they made the league then their PR person needs to get a new job.

Collison made me LOL

An imgur user has dug up old tweets of NBA players, many of the messages coming before the player or Twitter made it big (hat tip: Kevin Draper of Deadspin).

Safe to say, these players tweeted differently before it became apparent so many people were following their every message.

@Ant_Wright shutup *** boi i only went to college for a year and didnt pay attention in class at oak hill lol

Lillard:

On a far less-important – though quite interesting – note, Damian Lillard, between his junior and senior seasons at Weber State, tweeted several times at LeBron James during the 2011 playoffs (the year the Heat lost to the Mavericks in the Finals). Lillard deleted the tweets last night, but they read:

@KingJames please get yo ass out of “too cool” mode and takeover . PLEASE *****!!! Damn!!!

@KingJames I don’t feel bad for yo fake focused ass, I feel bad for dwade, and MYSELF cuz I wanted it more than you. #damnshame

@KingJames I may have been one of yo biggest fans. But THIS series u played like a straight pussy.

@KingJames talents to south beach? *****!! You took the spotlight nd a ego. You left the talents haha. Them shits in Cleveland .

In case you’re wondering, the Cavaliers play the Trail Blazers on Tuesday. Somehow, I think Lillard is far more likely to be asked about his tweets than Durant is about his.

Re: Potential Older "Tweet" Issues for Durant and Lillard?

I'm sure LeBron has been called far worse. This dude is seriously digging up old shit. So lame. This is what I hate about sports journalists these days.

Re: Potential Older "Tweet" Issues for Durant and Lillard?

Looking back in context, some of those tweets are pretty good, and actually show a bit of what dame is about, the talent and play, not the ego and south beach.

Re: Potential Older "Tweet" Issues for Durant and Lillard?

Sorry Sly I just realized that you had already started a thread on this. Feel free to merge

Re: Potential Older "Tweet" Issues for Durant and Lillard?

It's funny, I find myself telling Dame to wake up and get out of "too cool" mode a few times as well.

Re: Potential Older "Tweet" Issues for Durant and Lillard?

People expect too much from athletes.

Re: Potential Older "Tweet" Issues for Durant and Lillard?

Dame's tweets (ugh, I can't believe I talking about tweets - you farking asshats!) were pretty much what EVERYBODY across the country was saying about LBJ at the time. So...

Re: Potential Older "Tweet" Issues for Durant and Lillard?

Interesting. Wait no it's not

Re: Potential Older "Tweet" Issues for Durant and Lillard?

wooooow, wtf. they willnfind annnnything. lets dig up some journalist tweets before they made it. only fair. fucking idiots. leave durant and lillard alone. good lord.

Re: Potential Older "Tweet" Issues for Durant and Lillard?

I think there are 3 things to note here as well.

1. Be respondsible and accountable for the things you say/write

2. For Durant this was probably before people realized the power and reach of twitter to the world instead of just friends

3. Lillard was still pretty young and I wonder if he thought he was going to make it to the NBA at that point and if he thought about the idea of facing LBJ

Dame spoke about the old tweets...called his actions "irresponsible"...spoke to LeBron about the issue. Said everything is cool #Blazers

Re: Potential Older "Tweet" Issues for Durant and Lillard?

It will become an issue, because there is too much money to be made by extorting from the rich and famous.

It won't become as big an issue as it would have been if the extortionees were rich and famous and white.

It shouldn't be an issue at all, and anyone who thinks it should should be ashamed of themselves.

They were the tweets of a young fan, spouting off. BFD. Now he has to apologize for nothing. I hate this aspect of what society has become.
