Im not even surprised anymore

Every game, past seasons, I would write the nets wins against teams like Atlanta, and other crappy teams but now, Im not even surprised if the nets lose a ton of these games. Before, if the nets would get blown out, I would get teed off but now, It's like whatever. I havent seen the past two games, but i have seen plenty of nets this season, they have NO energy, no fight in them. really, if the nets lose to every sub .500 team from here on out, I wouldnt be surprised or shocked, this team has talent but no one seems to care.

I am completely shocked, however, by Kidd accepting the fact that we're a .500 team. Ive never heard him say that before. IMO, Kidd and VC have only the money on there minds. VC got his check, and now he seems lethargic as ever. All we hear from him is, "I WISH I PLAYED BETTER". Kidd gave up on this team when they traded K-mart. He's getting married again to a hottie and he wants the cash. RJ, as Ghoti said, is all talk.

2. kidd came out and said he accepted the fact we're a .500 team. this from the same guy who called this the most talented team he's ever been part of at the beginning of training camp.

3. just my opinion but we've hardly ever seen kidd mention contract extensions before and there were strories going around that kidd gave up trying to compete for a title when thorn traded kenyon away and i beleive them now.

Not surprising, not angry as I was after a loss compared to back in November. We all had hope for a surprise, but as the losses mount, especially the double digit one's.....it's not a surprise. Ratner wanted to keep his prized players....Kidd and VC and well this is what you get. I mean is having VC around keeping this team at the what the 12,000 attendance level? If not move him. Move Kidd, and RJ while you're at it. I look at this team ala the Mavs when they were running the Triple J's. That team ran it's course in 2 years.....composed of star power at the 1-3 positions. They were mediocre enough to draw an average pick....similar to the Nets now, but not super enough to be considered an elite. Because of off court issues, the Mavs blew it up(a couple year's before their move out of Reunion Arena and into AAA Center). They picked up Finley, Cassell, then picked up Nash for the Marion pick. Then they add a Nellie pick in Nowitzki in 1999. I think this is why Rat's got to rebuild. He has Williams and Boone up front developing. Bring in a couple of 20-22 year old developing players, see how they develop, add the lottery pick in 2008. Have some cap room to sign a player or 2 to develop. Looking at RJ and Kidd's trade value, both player should parlay into at least 2 prospects. Don't know about VC. So you have 2 prospects, Williams, Boone, your lottery pick and who knows maybe you get a pick or two for Kidd and RJ also. I think if Rat does do the O'Neal deal in 2 weeks, he's asking for more trouble. You blow it up, the attendance already sucks, so you won't lose much there, suck enough to get a decent lottery pick....then rebuild with prospects the next 2 years....then reformulate a plan to see how the kids are doing, move a piece here and there.......

Jizzy, I agree that the Nets situation is mediocre at the time being, but it looked that way the last couple years as well, and they usually had strong stretches to end the year, and unlike those 2 years we have Sean and Boone playing well.

Who knows maybe a good trade will happen, either to start rebuilding, or to be more competitive.

Agreed. I made a thread stating the Nets should rebuild because they arent going anywhere until something is done.

There's 2 full seasons to rebuild on before Brooklyn. 2 lottery picks, a few prospects added to the Williams and Boone. Plus there's a good amount of cap space to use just prior to moving in.

Well if the Nets did rebuild, then they have a good start. If they can get a couple of picks from trading Kidd and Carter, and some young talent. Maybe get Jordan Farmar, Turiaf, a pick and fillers in a deal from the Lakers for Kidd. Trade Carter somewhere for a high pick, and junk contracts.

SG: Net's pick // Laker's pick
SF: Carter's pick // Wright
PF: Sean // Turiaf

Sure he could be more optimistic, but being honest will help address the situation.

Yea, reportedly he's been seeking a max extension to his current deal, so that would be about another 22 million dollar deal for the 09-10 season, if he waits until July to sign, he can sign for an additional 2 seasons, so 22 million for 09-10 and about 24 million for 10-11 season. That's what he wants, I'm sure once he gets that he'll have more migraines.
