Some historical context about iso-scoring:

CJ: (points per possession)
22-23: 0.61 (in NO)
21-22: 0.76 (in Portland)
20-21: 1.09
19-20: 0.88
18-19: 0.96
17-18: 1.0
16-17: 0.98

Ant:
22-23: 1.15
21-22: 0.76
20-21: 0.86
19-20: 1.00

Would be really interesting if Ant can keep this up.

well, yeah....that's the same argument that's been made over and over in this thread, and not everybody accepts it...that obvious. Problem with that argument is that nobody can come up with any realistic reason trading one of them would make Portland a contender any sooner than keeping both, although the closest argument would be trading Ant for a major upgrade at forward
And even more so this is pretty much the exact same argument we heard for years with CJ. He wasn’t a great pair with dame and two small non defensive guards wouldn’t work but nobody wanted to give up CJ for peanuts. They all wanted a quality player in return.

Can anyone name a legit contender from the last 30 years that paired two guards as small as Dame and Ant? I think the CJ/Dame Blazers were probably the closest to that status, but never once thought they were a legit contender. It's obviously not ideal to have your two best players be 6'2 190 lb PGs but here we are.

With their contracts, Ant can't be traded until this January while Dame can't be moved until next summer. If Portland test drives this obvious mismatch for 2 more seasons as you say they should, Dame will be 35 and likely very close to done. The choice will have been made to stand pat. Since I want my team to win championships not just games, I hope they've moved one or the other for pieces and timelines that fit together by the start of next season.

Why should anyone care how the game was played 30 years ago? The rules, offense, defense and players are all totally different in today's game.

Follow up, why would anyone need to have a signature with their name when it says their name in the picture next to their comment?

Simons himself has said he has grown.
link? If he had, that would be news that wouldn't have slipped by this board, though you'd have to take that with a grain of salt. For decades almost all players have listed themselves as much bigger then they are for a reason.

I was being expansive asking for any example since the Pistons. If there is a more recent example, of course that would be more relavant. Unfortunately...

Will dig for the direct quote from him, sorry, this is marang referencing a previous interview. At the 44:00 mark, roughly.

I thought it was to self-referentially imply that one had won a debate by having a name that signifies excessive victory!

More likely he will. He's still young and improving. Also, the stats presented here are not small sample size.

In actuality I've done it for years. I saw some other posters doing it and it struck me as signing your name at the end of a statement like a letter. My post name/handle is derived from a snowboarding product I was working on when I first joined this group 20+ years ago.

Sorry but that "quote" is ridiculous fanboy anecdotal nonsense easily disproved by Ant standing next to Shaedon. Who to believe? These two jokers yucking it up that Ant is now 6'5 or the fact that 6'4.25 Shaedon towers over him?

Who to believe, someone "quoting" anfernee, or you pulling up out of context pictures of people standing nearby each other. OK.

Doesn't seem too far outside the realm of possibility that Ant is closer to Hart/Sharpe's height than Dame's.

??? I've posted no pictures. I went to OMSI as a kid and know how optical delusions work ;-)

You can't judge height by shoulders.....see 6'8 Terry Stotts neck....it's about 9 inches long! With a normal neck Terry would be about 5'11 THERE problem solved....Ant has a longer neck than Shaedon!

Actually this is incorrect, we can use photos to accurately judge the height of two different objects.

I always believed the statue of liberty was over a couple hundred feet tall, but that's wrong. Its actually much shorter than an average person. You can see in this picture as proof;

lmao, another comment in the offseason that aged well...being negative all the time must not be fun man..

Offseason? This was created in February.... are you familiar when the offseason is?

You know, it's funny. Every once in a while I click the "show ignored content" button and I see the posts/posters that I'm blissfully unaware of because I blocked their asses a long time ago. I have collected a nice following of people who have hate boners for me.

The funny thing is that I don't carry around weird infatuations with anyone on here. I read opinions and I comment on that opinion. I have never understood this weird obsession with hating specific posters. If you don't like someone, don't read them. Or better yet, ignore them. I have a few people on here on ignore because they always seemed to need to make it personal. "You're a hater. You're negative. Blah blah blah blah blah." I actually forgot about most of you on my list until I make the mistake of clicking "show ignored content."

I just picture them as one of those tedious people who call into the 5th quarter and ramble for several minutes about some asinine opinion that they have about the team.

Putting people on ignore sounds like a lot of work, I'm way too lazy for that.

Plenty of stupid opinions around here; if they are really dumb I usually don't respond. Plenty of great opinions though as well.

Happy to debate if someone has a good counterpoint. I think of my debates as more of just throwing out the comment I believe makes the most sense. I don't try to change the opinion of who I'm responding too, plenty of people have stupid opinions or are stuck up. I think of it more as an independent 3rd party is looking at both our arguments, and I try to post in a way that portrays how I'm right and how that other person's logic is flawed.

Of course everything here is just our worthless opinions so anybody that takes it to seriously probably has bigger problems in their life.

https://www.nba.com/stats/players/transition?dir=A&sort=TEAM_ABBREVIATION

Points per possession in transition:

Dame - 1.04
Sharpe - 1.04
Hart - 1
Grant - 0.92
Simons - 0.91
Little - 0.82
Keon - 0.7
Winslow - 0.36

As a comparison in 20-21 (last healthy year without tanking):

Melo - 1.32
DJJ - 1.23
Enes - 1.23
Cov - 1.19
Nurk - 1.19
Norm- 1.16
CJ - 1.13
Trent - 1.11
Dame - 0.97
Little - 0.94
Simons - 0.92
Hood - 0.72

Needless to say, while we seemingly get out in transition a lot more often, we aren't very efficient at scoring in these opportunities yet.
Weird to see Melo as the leader. he must have been a trailer taking threes. I would guess Lillard gets a lot that way also? Do these stats somehow account for a guy getting the assist on a transition basket?

I love debating the blazers. What I got tired of debating was me and my outlook on the team. Or maybe it's my attitude. I don't know. I don't really care. I think I ended up blocking 4-5 people that always seemed to comment on me instead of the topic. Life is much better when you don't see those people. I usually make the mistake of clicking "show ignored content" because I see other people responding to them and I'm curious what they're responding to.

The fact is that if we have a chance at any time to attain a game changing, already all star, two way wing that and the package has to include Ant but allows us to keep our perimeter depth, then we would have to do it. If had a chance to make a major upgrade at C by trading Ant and Nurk for someone who both stretches the floor more on offense, can better cover the perimeter and still be a post anchor on defense, then you do it.

Otherwise, I think you let this duo see if they can match Dame/CJ lead teams in success this season and if they can at least do that, you give them next season too. I we fall short of making the playoffs and being competitive in the first round and it's obvious that the defensive efficacy of our back court is a liability that lead to our step backwards then I think we would quietly auction off Ant in the off season.

I'm all for giving this back court a chance but if we're hitching our wagon to Dame (newsflash we just hitched it to the tune of over 250M over the next five seasons) then we do not give this back court time for growing pains. We see what they got this year and if it's trending up from Dame/CJ then we continue with it and if it's trending down and we're committed to Dame we make swift decisive changes that better put us in position to win in Dame's window.
