I don't agree. I know of no other animal that acts that way. As a biologist I know nature is not sentimental. A mother animal may well abandon or even kill an offspring that can't survive; it makes perfect biological sense, she will not expend energy nursing and hunting for an offspring that won't live and reproduce. But I have never known another species torture their children to death. I know of no male animals who burn their sons to death because they think the son might be gay. Etc.

Even the "eew" animals, like those that paralyze prey with a sting and eat the immobile, but living prey, who is still aware and can feel, alive from the inside, do so because that is how they evolved, not due to any evil intent.
