I'm stepping down

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

1. All posters with honorable intentions are welcome.
2. This is a big site with a lot of members. You may not like every one of them. However, we expect everyone to at least respect each other.
3. Respect the moderators, global moderators, producers, commissioners, admins, and other staff members of SportsTwo.
4. Flame wars are not allowed. We do tolerate poking fun of one another in good fun, but hateful posts towards another poster are not allowed.
5. Trash talk is allowed. It's one thing to call Portland's NBA team the "Jailblazers" and another to call their fans idiots. The former is allowed, the latter is not.
6. SportsTwo is to be a work-friendly and family-friendly site. While there is no blanket rule on how to enforce this, it is completely the discretion of SportsTwo staff to enforce this rule and how to enforce it.
7. Everyone is here to offer their opinions, so be prepared to have people disagree with your opinions. There is a difference between attacking someone's post (their opinion) and attacking the poster with the latter not allowed. The staff is here to monitor for such occurrences.
8. Users who have multiple accounts will be publicly identified.
9. We can't anticipate all of the things the staff may find unacceptable. Again, it is completely the discretion of SportsTwo staff to enforce any unwritten policies they deem fit, and you are expected to abide by these judgments.
10. The staff is here to be of service any way we can. If you have questions or need help with anything, feel free to PM a mod, GM, Producer, Commissioner, or an Admin.
11. We reserve the right to amend these rules at any time.

Bolded in my opinion.

So it was mostly about being disrespectful of other posters, and not trolling... correct?

Rule #1 has been heavily debated the past few days. Some of the staff has felt that Mixum has been breaking rule #1 for a long time now. Denny's two quoted posts were admission of guilt, but yes, the disrespectful posts and personal attacks were absolutely a contributing factor.

We've never had a rule against trolling, per se. "Fuck the Lakers" would be considered trolling, wouldn't it?

He was disrespectful of other posters, no doubt, though we've allowed people to post things in anger. The idea isn't for us to scrutinize everything you do and find some reason to punish you.

He called people cowards - that violated rule 5. The two posts of his that I quoted are pretty much an admission on his part that he doesn't have honorable intentions.

He's claimed to have honorable intentions all along, and half the people saying he doesn't and half the people saying he does isn't conclusive enough.

I suspended him once, and gave the staff and other admins every opportunity to make it permanent, and not a single one of them argued for it.

I'm not a mod, but I'll give my $0.02 that I don't think his suspension should be permanent. I would submit that he should be on a shorter leash than others for his previous behavior.

When he actually wants to talk hoops, he's not a bad poster. And I'm always of the mind that the more posters who actually want to talk hoops the better. Hell, I'm even willing to converse with DaRizzle and Mamba even though they root for evil incarnate. ;)

He isn't worth the trouble Max.

I think Mixum should receive the same punishment that Master Shake did for doing the same things. (Free to post anywhere on the site but the Blazers forum)

If someone were to repeatedly post "Fuck the Lakers" in the Laker forum that would be trolling. Posting it once in the Laker forum is acceptable after a tough loss like the last time the Blazers played them.

Posting it here is almost a requirement for any real Blazer fan.

FUCK THE LAKERS!

Exactly right.

Get him outta here. I might actually start posting here now that i dont have to sift through all of the MIXUM garbage... and theres a shitload of it.

^^he's absolutely not alone - I'd say a lot more of us would spend more time and post much more without Rudy here. A temporary suspension might keep him in line for a couple of days but there's absolutely no doubt that witin a week, he'll be back to his old antics. His previous Maurice Lucas suspension didn't do much to tone down his act.

I would hope so! My wife is a blonde and I have a son, not a daughter. I am a huge Farley fan, however, and that picture always makes me laugh.

Well, it freaking says "Chris Farley Lives" underneath the pic. Man, you're an awful dad! Ripping on your "child" in a public forum!

I'm rather indifferent to Mixum being banned, but I can't help but wonder.....who will be next?

For the record, and contrary to what some folks have claimed, I post what I really feel - and I assume the same about other posters until proven otherwise.

I'm pretty sure it's perma.

Exactly. Let's put it this way - the dude is driving traffic AWAY from the site. Isn't in the best interest of S2 management to rid themselves of an extremely unpopular poster that is driving traffic away from their site? I understand that there are a somewhat vocal MINORITY that champion "free speech" and the "letter of the law" and believe Mix doesn't deserve to get the boot, but they're the MINORITY. Most of us want the dude gone. He's not entertaining. And he's damaging the quality of this message board two fold. He litters the board with garbage posts that are meant to inflame the S2 members, and he's now driving away quality contributors. This is a no brainer. Permanent ban.

Well, and how many people have we banned since we came here in 2008? 2? Bendavis and Mixum?

Exactly. Of all the message boards I frequent this is easily one of the best managed. I feel free to say what I want, but I'm capable of understanding when I may or may not be inflaming threads or other posters. I've been warned in the past via PM, but unlike Mix, I've shown the simple ability to slightly alter how I communicate here. He's NEVER shown the desire or intent to alter his inflammatory ways. It's so fucking obvious his intent is to troll, therefore he should be booted.

Absolutely right. While the guy's redundant crap threads might artificially increase activity on the site, it's the kind of activity that many of us could simply do without - and it certainly has driven some away from here. I still come here but spend as little time as possible - just enough to sift through the BS to get the Blazers stuff I need then I'm out. It's not at all an enjoyable experience, more like accepting that the bullshit just comes with the forum . . . which shouldn't be the case.

I've considered many times about leaving S2 altogether and even pulling a PapaG and telling the mods to close my account. A time or two I've even thought about creating one of these "I'm outta here and here's why..." type threads but I'd already stop posting here with any regularity and wasn't delusional enough to think that any such thread/action from me would matter. No one would care, really. But when regular, knowledgeable and valuable contributors are boycotting, it's gotta mean something.

I, for one, am glad that the people with the authority to do so are (finally) stepping up. It's been long overdue. I think with the deliberate cancer gone site activity won't suffer - in fact, I think it'll pick up . . . and the general vibe of the forum will be considerably improved.

I don't even think Ben Davis was ever truly banned because he kept coming back and you-know-who (not Denny) would have a freak out session if we tried to ban his new account(s).

Hmm that would have worked had he posted in the other forums. I think the Ducks forum was the only other place he posted. So he could have just continued his attacks there or play the victim anyway.

Nobody's next. We _really_ don't like banning anyone.

Great post.
