I'm stepping down (1 Viewer)

Welcome to our community

If you aren't a dickhead no one has a reason to try and find your name and harass you with that knowledge. Its fairly easy. People don't give a shit about harassing you unless you prove to be a major douche. Then people are inclined to put a face or name with the fool.

Here's the thing. You want to harass someone because they're a 'dickhead', then you're as much as a dickhead. Except in this case, for all his dickheadedness, Mixum never crossed the line of addressing any of these people in this forum as their real identity, to my knowledge, unless it was in their username.

That whole he tugged on my hair so I'm going to tug back because he made me do it because he was an ass was okay when you know, we were idiots in elementary school and junior high.

We're not now, though. We're adults. We must accept responsibility for our actions. If we do something which is a an asshole move, we can't blame the other person. It was their choice to be a dickhead, just as much as it is our choice to respond and be dickheads in return. Mixum was disruptive to the forum, but if I were to get into an argument with him I would not fear him finding my name on the internet and using it in retaliation.

Again, this is BS. Mixum and all his nonsense is disrespected in every thread. He starts dumb threads, but that shouldn't be the go ahead for anyone to disrespect him like most do. To me this seems more like another double standard in the forums. NUmbers 2 and 4 are violated by most psters in a Mixum thread, or any thread for that matter not pro Blazers.

Several posters were saying that Mixum had caused the 4 moderators to leave, so I put it to the former mods.
This thread assumes without evidence that the moderators stopped being mods because of Mixum. I wish the 4 former mods would come forward and either confirm or deny that.
...
Didn't have anything to do with my stepping down, I needed more time for real life.
I didn't stop moderating due to MIXUM. MIXUM doesn't bother me...either he amuses me or I ignore him. I stopped moderating because fundamentally I don't enjoy doing the job. I've done it from time to time with this community (back on BBF and here) in order to help out and eventually always stepped down because I prefer just posting.
That wasn't it ... OK, now I really am done. Regards.
20 posts in this thread from Natebishop3 infer that yes, that's the main reason for him. The results are in...Mixum caused 1 of the 4 to leave.

9.0 earthquake, 33 ft. tsunami, exploding nuke plants in Japan: 164 posts.

NateBishop resigns, MIXUM banned: 206 posts.

Oh, the humanity!

barfo

It is a Blazers basketball forum. I mean in fairness, there probably aren't any posts abut Mixum or Nate on CNN or Fox coverage of the Japan disaster?

The way I see it, most of those people either didn't care that he was banned or were curious why he was banned... not opposed.

Those feelings mean that those people don't oppose Mixum enough to want him banned.

I didn't include the quarter-to-third of posters in this thread who carefully avoided taking sides. Only about half the posters said they wanted Mixum banned, a third were carefully neutral (and thus probably don't want him banned, otherwise they'd say so when talking in a thread that is about banning him), and lastly the ones I listed, about a fifth, questioned it. The point is that it would not be true to assume that all posters in this thread other than those in my list want him banned.

Definitely was curious. That was all. Once the curiosity was quenched, I was satisfied and happy.

This post creates an illusion is that Professional Fan is one of those people in my list that NateBishop refers to, as either not caring or being curious. But he's not in the list in my post.

No. The main reason I left was because of policy. Mixum was one symptom of what's wrong with the policy, in my opinion. He was not the only poster that broke the rules as they were and should be punished.

Can you answer this question with all honesty? Do you believe Mix's intentions are innocent?

This thread helps me appreciate how the locker room likely was during the Jail Blazers era.

Irrelevant, except to the official rules (#1 honorable intent). As I posted, the deciding, unofficial reasons are unwritten.

The real reason he's gone is unpopularity, which was only with at most half the posters. The reasons they disliked him was that they come here to enjoy feeling a quasi-religious reverant unity for the team (my illustration was of throwing someone out of church for jabbering that there is no God) and secondly, because Mixum would twist apparently positive news into negative (my illustration was yesterday's thread title, We are really terrible because we just signed Chris Johnson).

Intention is just one of the formal official rules. If they were enforced consistently, the board would die immediately. They are there to justify a ban after the decision, not to steer the actual decision process. What steers actual decisions is a political lobbying process. The loudest birdbrains get the worm. (I just made that up. Instant classic.)

I didn't fucking ask you.

I hijacked the thread. It's mine now. Did you pay for your ticket? Then beat it.

You're more Abdul Mudallad than D.B. Cooper.

So, getting back on track, NB3, thanks for your service. I hope you're happier here as one of we mere posters.

I'm just kinda amused that they quickly pushed this through committee while the one admin they know is strongly opposed was on vacation.

Well, Denny IS originally from Chicago... :)

This is more Wisconsin than Illinois. :D

This whole thread is more like 9th grade than anything else. Meadow Park represent FAMS! :ghoti:

Actually this is completely untrue.

No, they probably aren't. I have no problem with Mixum being suspended. My problem is that most everyone else breaks the rules of the forum as well and aren't suspended.

So I guess he got to go out with a bang then?

Yes, that will be fantastic once DJ MixedUp's buddy returns and does his thing. Poor, innocent and defenseless Mixie never did a thing to deserve any of this - but thank goodness his Mod In Shining Armor will return shortly to save the day. Order will be restored to S2!!!

Oh what would we do without such a hero to protect the posting rights of well intentioned, altruistic and non-attention-whoring fans everywhere!

Hip.

Hip.

Hooray.

oh if you only knew.... wait I'm sure you probably do lol. But no this wasnt pushed through with Ed-O gone. :)

Compare the handwringing the mods here went through compared to the rash decisions by pricks like Basel on BBF. One more reason to like this place. No one can say that the poster in question wasn't given fair warning.

I will second this. It may lead to some heated debates with other staff at times  . But people do definitely get their chances and 2nd chances and so on here.
