LMAO! My wife may want to come up to Portland. Maybe not in January, but the next game against L.A. She wants to do that damn "Twilight Tour" and will accept a 200 tick price for the Blazers in return. I'm so glad she is so GOO GOO over Twilight. So you, Sly and I should hook up and go to the game.

Again with the feelings stuff. No, it takes a lot more than anything that could ever be posted on here to hurt my feelings. As far as opinions I've had many great discussions about my opinions and opinions of others on here. I kind of thought that was what a forum was about, the exchange of opinions and ideas.

if you haven't noticed, this community is rude, why would the moderators be any different?

Rude? Actually I don't think this community as a whole is rude at all. Most everyone is pretty damn cool. Sure there are a few on here who are rude but I find them entertaining.

I don't think, and I'm speaking w/o knowing what Chris really meant here, that the fact that there is dissension is an issue. It's that there is such a thing on both sides as beating a dead horse. Continually. Ad nauseum. It seems like some posters here pick one topic and beat it to death over and over and over again. I don't begrudge them that they have a negative opinion. It just gets tiring reading the same f'n thing every day, every thread as their bread and butter. I think in the case of Chris it was just a little tiring hearing the same old refrain.

For example,
Team loses, it's Nate's fault.
Team wins, Nate didn't coach right, we should've won by 20.
Blake misses a shot, stupid Nate is playing him.
Greg Oden doesn't play 48 minutes and take every shot, Nate sucks.
Roy gets a foul and Nate doesn't whip out an uzi and silence the refs permanently, Nate sucks.

No one is silly enough to think Nate is perfect. I think he has some obvious shortcomings. But just once I'd like to see a few posters give him the benefit of the doubt for a quarter before forming the lynch mob. And again, I'm using him as an example.

Last year was markedly different in the approach to team on this board. Who knows, maybe all of our expectations are so sky-high that we can't cope w/ a letdown.

No just 30-35 minutes a game and milk him when his inside game is working. Nate seems to see a bread and butter play, then sub that person immediately after. It's hair pulling.

my point is, i don't give a flying fuck what you think the mods should and should not do here, and if you think people are being singled out, treated unfair, or not shown proper respect by mods or anyone else, that is a you thing, not an us thing.

You mean like last night when he left Oden in several minutes longer than usual when he was hot in the first quarter?

Some of you I know are peeved about Nate's foul-and-you-leave rule. I still don't think you can just allow a player to go in and play till they foul out and actually learn anything but I guess we're just on different pages there.

The NBA is all about timing and learning to deal with adversities. Oden will eventually have to deal with foul problems, but the fouls he had last night seemed warranted. They are what big men do. Nothing was ticky-tac they were all just and I would want him to play that aggressively. Eventually, the Refs will give him the benefit later on in his career. But hey, if you are fine with him not being fully utilized and him bolting to a team that will, then go right ahead.

They were ticky-tac all over the place last night.

You still didn't address the fact that Nate left Oden in quite a long time last night when he was effective and only took him out when he was winded.

But hey, I guess with all of your knowledge having trained so many NBA athletes, I guess you're entitled to think you know it all.
 
I for one am sorry to see chris' post. We're in a tough situation since there are people of all stripes here. It's not some invite-only social club - I don't think many of us would find that to be much fun.

If we did try and restrict some people (the naysaying naybobs of negativism) from posting because of their views, we'd piss off half the people. If we came down on the kool-aid drinkers, we'd piss of the other half.

We do have the ability to make a couple of subforums, one for each group, and the mods could move or delete the posts that don't belong in each. Whatever we can do to facilitate everyone being happy, we're willing to do.

We're open to reasonable suggestions. Feel free to PM me or one of the mods or post any ideas you have along those lines.

I think if you eliminated one group or the other or tried to segment it out it would lose some of its appeal.

The one feature that people have access to at all times is ignore.

Seriously LOTBfan my "vag" isn't sore over anything. You responded to my post and I replied back. I did it politely and calmly. You're the one who seems to have an issue with what and how I replied to you. I haven't insulted anyone. Now you seem to be trying to turn this into something personal. I don't have much to say about the original post (anyone is free to come and go depending on whether the place is fun for them), but I agree with this post. I don't think this community needs "cheerful" and "angsty" ghettos. The whole point of (most) communities is for disparate perspectives to mix, creating an interplay.

Just ignore the people whom you don't enjoy reading. If the whole forum is getting you down, then just step away and enjoy watching the games without all the fights over what is going well or badly.
