That's probably Monroes celling at least offensively. Big Al is very good offensively and one of the better rebounders in the NBA.

I believe Lillard, Aldridge, Batum, and Matthews are considered "the core" of our franchise. I doubt you we will see any of these guys in a trade unless it's lopsided in our favor.

Hmm if that is the case I would definitely pass. Might as well just sign Jefferson who is a really good offensive player IMO. I actually flip flop on big Al. Sometimes I trash him and other times I get intrigued by his size and offensive skill.

Nene or Okafor would still be my first choice of realistic options (And you have to think Washington would LOVE to dump one) But they both have had injury issues.

Sanders=no way they let him go.
Dalembert=stop gap
Peckovic= over pay or long shot

So aside from getting Howard which isnt going to happen are the best scenario changes that we can this year enough to make us legitimate title contenders for the next few years?

This has been asked before but in other words does it make sense to build a good to great team that do really well for a few years and probably not when a title or does it make sense to go for broke for 1-2 years and be a legitimate title contender. Would you rather have a great chance at winning even if it means complication for the next few after that or would you rather build a good to great team that probably wont win one.

I guess I ask because with our current personnel it feels like we are kind of in between these 2 choices and kind of need to pick one and roll with it.

And a follow up question, would Paul Allen be willing to go over the cap for a true title contender?

I'm not sold on Monroe either, but he is a better upgrade than Hickson, IMO. The scenario would be giving Portland an additional 9 mil cap savings. What that means is Portland could offer a "Max" + "6 mil" contract. That's a lot of flexibility.

I am thinking more in line with using our "max availability" to trade our pick and cap space for Lopez. Then Brooklyn could use that trade exemption to offer Lakers for Howard.

Lopez probably isn't an A or A+ answer, but he is definitely a B answer.

I am starting to warm to the fact that adding 2 FA's and a pick is the way to go. Not sure who those players are though? I think Lopez would be "settling" and thats not what we need to do

So if we wait and try to get in on a Howard trade, (as a facilitator) what date do you think it will go down? I think anything with Howard involved will be a slow process. Not sure I would risk waiting. I could be wrong, it could be quick, but if you have to wait for him to make up his mind......

I think that's the gamble for Brooklyn. Basically they need the "max player TE" and if the chips don't fall, they can find plan B I guess. Whatever the case, it seems Brooklyn was the location Howard wanted to go to and we can facilitate that by our deal.

The free agent center list is "meh" to me unless we are getting a stop gap and hope Leonard will become the center of the future.

That's a good point. You would guess that Dwight's agent will be in "contact" with the Nets in May/June if he still wants to go there. So they should have an idea if there is a possibility of landing DH and what it would take.

And that's why I think it isn't such a bad idea. Brooklyn is in luxury tax situation and according to Larry Coon; they could have that TE from a trade like Lopez. In fact, the TE could give Howard what the Lakers could offer; yet still able to transfer it to Brooklyn.

I mean we may not even be a player though. Lakers may just want Lopez and could manage to trade with them straight up for Howard.

I think Dalembert and O'Neal would be overkill. If they think Leonard can be the guy, he needs to play. If not, lose his sorry playing defensive ass. and draft one of the 42 centers in this years draft and sign a slashing wing instead.

Reddick is Wes Matthews on offesne IMO. Good shooter, non slasher (although Reddick is better)

Dalembert, Evans, Maynor with the exception and Len or Gobert or take Leonard and #10 and move up to get Porter would be a nice off season and get us to the playoffs IMO

I don't know why I'm not high on Evans. Maybe it's because he's from Sacramento and I'm immediately turned off. Maybe I shold just warm up to the fact that he is a valuable player?

Jerm is a 800k player. It's hardly a problem. Also, we need a back up PF; which Jerm would fit in nicely.

Hey, I like Meyers Leonard's potential as much as the next guy, but Detroit would probably need a lot more than Leonard to trade Greg Monroe at this point. Trading their 22-year-old center that leads the team in points, blocks, and steals for a backup project? Would think you'd have to come with more than a developing project that's only a year younger.
