The pick we sent to Denver is top 14 protected in 2016 and 2017, then becomes a 2nd rounder in 2018.

Not to question our front office, but was blowing up the team really worth it just to keep the pick?

For the 1,000th time, the trade was made before Wes went down, and AAA was brought here to be a backup. No revisionist history there, that's what the trade was for. Do people just forget so they can argue?

They do. Just like they did when we traded Miller for Felton. It was the right trade at the right time, then circumstances changed unexpectedly.

I really wish more members would actually read first prior to posting. I cant keep up anymore because most of it is all rehash, and Im losing my love affair with the site because of it...

Exactly, Wookee.

Damn, I don't drink much anymore. But I may have a Coors to toast this post!

Some of us were upset when both trades came down. I didn't think either one was going to be good before hand... so there is no revisionist history here.

If (the collective) you were upset when both trades came down, it wasn't for the reasons that the trades turned out to be for the best.

My point about this is I have seen people really upset that we lost our pick for a 2 month rental on Afflalo, I was bummed about it thinking we would need top 3 luck to keep it. Now I am looking at was has unfolded and we don't look like a Playoff team now. Keeping that pick in the top 14 is huge for us now.

Welcome to Summertime.

Yeah its a nice bonus to having a 2 year rebuild.

If we have all these young guys on the roster with more room to improve and somehow miraculously make the playoffs it will be such a positive indicator of our players high future value I'll be fine losing the pick. The west is stacked.

Any scenario where the team is worse than that we keep the picks.

If you aren't going to be very good, one of the best things that can happen is to be very bad. You just don't want stuck right in the middle.

One thing though... I would be damn pissed if I'd shelled out cash for season tickets next year.

Me too... Same club seats near half court. Now I can watch all the missed shots and sprinting back and fourth.... I hope the buffet is back. I will just hang out in the food court stuffing my fat ass...

Look at it this way. If Aldridge stayed (stays?) the team probably picks in the mid-twenties next year, if he bolts we're definitely in the lottery and we lose a second rounder the year after.

Debatable. The additions Neil has made will keep us competitive, and there's still $27M of cap money to use. This may still be a playoff team.

Outside of multiple major injuries no chance we beat those teams. So we would be in a battle with Dallas, Utah, Phoenix (w/o LMA) for that final playoff spot. I'd be shocked if we can even be in the race. But people thought the same of Phoenix two years ago and they won nearly 50 games. So I'm not saying its impossible but so very highly unlikely I wouldn't take those odds if someone was willing to pay me 10-1.

No . . . Not really at all in fact. Maybe not bottom 10 in the league, but still pretty "turrible." Losing LaMarcus, Wesley and RoLo and replacing them with the guys we have now probably puts us in 32 wins territory.

That team played pretty good on D if I recall?

Which is why I mentioned the $27M remaining in cap space. We're not done yet.

Who's left that makes a difference?

Deandre Jordan. Tobias Harris. Demar Derozan (Toronto allegedly wants to trade him to avoid the larger max he'll command next summer). Deng if we get him from Miami in a S&T. Someone else that I can't think of the Neil would be able to swing a trade for using cap space.

I don't know, but the point is that the roster isn't complete yet.
