In order of PF/Cs...

Assuming for a second that the following are available for some combination of expiring contracts (Blake and Outlaw) and one of the Bayless/Rudy/Webster/1st rounder group, what's your order for the following for both this year and going forward?

I'll just list them in my order.
Okafor
Murphy
Chandler
Gortat
Foster
Bass
Oberto

If I were to go after one of them, I would be looking for someone more as a backup PF for the future who could also play minutes at center if we needed him to (like this season). I think getting a pure center of any decent calibre would be a mistake because I'm assuming Joel and Oden will both come back (relatively) healthy.

If you go all out and get a good player to fill the need for this season, you run the risk of creating trouble next year (see our PG predicament at the moment).

This is what I would envision as the minutes breakdown with Joel's minutes going down over the next year or two and more going to player X (or a younger guy).

Oden:30 mpg
Joel: 15 mpg
Aldridge: 35 mpg
Player X: 16 mpg

In a couple of years, that's up to 30+ mpg per player if it's a three-man rotation (which I wouldn't completely count on).

It's tough to weigh all of those variables, but given what I've said, my list would go something like this...

1. Foster: I think he'd fit in well. Provide some much-needed rebounding this year, and could mesh in next year.
2. Oberto: I think he'd be a great fit actually. He's not someone who's going to complain with a reduced role in the future.
3. Bass: I think he'd be a perfect backup PF. Could slide Aldridge to center at times if we need. Seems available too, and wouldn't be too costly. If he could play some center, he'd be at the top for me.
4. Okafor: I like that he can play two positions (defensively). I feel like he would be the kind of guy who wouldn't be happy with a reduced role of that were to occur. Would give us some good rebounding and d though.
5. Murphy: I like him. I think it'd cost a decent amount to get him. I also don't think the Pacers want another PG. Not sure how he fits.
6. Gortat: He was complaining about being behind Dwight. He can only play center. I don't think it'd be a good fit.
7. Chandler: I don't think he'd be happy with the minutes, and I'm just not a fan of him period.

I'm also assuming that Travis isn't re-signed this offseason. I could be very wrong their given KP's statements. I actually did like how he was playing at the beginning of the year, but I don't feel good about having him at PF at all.

I also think Pendergraph will be good for us in the future, but this thread was more about guys to acquire.

I agree, with one reservation.

Outside of his rebounding, I don't like Murphy's game....but I suspect that Nate/Roy would adore his willingness to spread the floor.

thats funny i actually had murphy down a few spots, but i decided his scoring and his contract would be valuable in the short run
