Would you have rather had the Blazers "not" had HCA in the 1st Round? I mean, as it was, it was a large dose of pressure for a "non-playoff team" to essentially "have" to win Game 1. I'm sure that's that way they approached it. If this were a playoff team to begin with, losing Game 1 is not as big of a deal. Been there, done that in the playoffs. Know what to expect.

OK, they've now effectively lost HCA......in one game. Had they not had it in the first place, they would have had two games in Houston to acquire it. Less pressure.

Jus sayin'.

hindsight is 20/20

Asking a Blazers fan whether or not he wanted HCA before the playoffs is just silly.

Not to me. In fact, when I heard we were playing (physically tough) Houston, I almost wanted the Rockets to have HCA from the get-go for this very reason. I thought that it might be best for this young Blazers squad to get their playoff feet wet before being face with the pressure of winning at home.

As I had mentioned, HCA can change with one game.....................and it did.

I would still want Portland to have HCA. The loss wasn't due to pressure put on the team by the fans in the RG. It was due to Houston being a nightmare match-up for Portland combined with Portland not really being ready for playoff basketball.

Had they opened in Houston, they would have gotten beaten just as bad.

I was thinking the same thing, but then I realized.. "wait a second.. either way we would have to win in Houston.. but a game 7 would be in our house"

I too would still want HCA. However if you tweaked the question a bit I'd prefer that NO made those damn free throws! And I'd take playing SA on the road over the Rockets with HCA.

I have to be honest I think we should have tanked a game or two and gotten road against San Antonio. I feel confident our boys could steal one there. Houston is the only team I didn't want to see in the first round. My bigger question is how is a defensive cupcake like Dallas able to beat Houston? What are they doing that we aren't?

Hindsight 20/20. The way things ended up were unfortunate for the Blazers though. In that last game Houston played at Dallas, they had a 14 point lead and just fell apart. Had Houston held on that night, we'd be playing San Antonio at home and I think we can all agree that would be a better match-up for us. San Antonio looked HORRIBLE against Dallas, especially defensively. Would you expect a San Antonio team to shoot 11-14 on threes at HOME and still lose by 7?? They had no answer for . . . JJ Barea? Are you kidding? No Manu hurts, but their defense isn't what it used to be. Duncan's line 27/9 looks good, but his impact on the game isn't the same. He's got to be hurting pretty bad right now, because Tim Duncan just doesn't get abused by Brandon Bass and Erich Dampier. He's got 2 blocked shots in his last 5 games, so you know his knees are barking.

In retrospect I'd rather the Blazers show up and play like an NBA team rather than a WNBA team

The thing is, it's now a virtual do-or-die situation. Would it have been do-or-die down one in Houston? I think not. In fact our young championship team from the past showed us that much. If you recall, they were down 0-2 before coming home and taking are of business the rest of the way.

Fear not young padawan. Your confidence is shaken I see. There are a lot of ups and downs in a 7 game series.

Never seen a WNBA team so outplayed in the postseason. But then, unlike mediocre man, I actually watch them.

Iam not sure it is a virtual do or die after just one game.... (Where were you in June 1977 when the Blazres were down 2-0 to the Sixers????) What did you say then?

If we win tomorrow and then win 1 of 2 in Houston... then we get back the HCA.. after 4 games its still 2-2

who knows...

we definately need to adjust after Saturday s game... I dont think it matter where its at after how badly we played.

Actually over the last two years there have been several WNBA teams that have lost by 20 or so points in the playoffs. You being such a big fan, I figured you would have known that.........Go Comets, er wait.

I know you get offended, but the Blazers played like women against the Rockets. Women are soft and delicate, and it's why us men like them so much. We don't however, like our men's professional basketball teams to be like them.

I realize not all women are the same, but then again GO didn't play like one and I am lumping him into the same category as the others.

No. Not against Houston.

But, as the end of the regular season approached, I wanted to avoid Houston, and would have gladly given up home court to do that. On the last day of the season I held out hope that we would end up in the 5th slot with San Antonio at 4. I much preferred that to having home court vs Houston. Alas.

Houston is just a terrible matchup for this Blazers team.

I've seen blowouts when one team was clearly superior to the other. The Rockets are not clearly superior to the Blazers.

Oh yes, women are so soft and delicate. Like our Secretary of State, for example.

I'd LOVE to see how a man reacts to menstrual cramps. Let alone childbirth. Bunch of wimps.

That's what I was saying. In fact, I had related to that same '77 team in my previous post. The difference with them was, Philly had the HCA. Even though the Blazers lost the first two games, they lost them on the road. By the time the got home, they were good and mad......(not just happy to be there like our current team appears to have been.)

Conversely, this Blazer team is behind the 8-ball right out of the gates. I'm just saying that it "may" have been good for them to get some playoff action in before effectively being in must-win situations.

In an all gay world, that point would be moot, right?

Not sure what you mean. Are you saying gays can't reproduce. Well, two men can't, but...

You must be very NOT up on our culture. It's called partner #1 egg in partner #2 uterus.

I don't have problems with straights in the world. Would that straights all felt the same about gays.

No. Only because we were able to skip a major step. I mean if we go into next season's Playoffs with HCA for the first time, we still don't fully realize the intensity level we have to bring on our home floor. We have to, at some point, begin understanding what it takes to win under different circumstances. We've got the underdog role down pat. We need to learn how to win as a favorite.

Sure I am. :D

Hmmm...I'm wondering how that egg gets fertilized? Certainly not from some wimpy man's sperm.

I don't claim to be a doctor......not since college anyway, but how can a gay couple reproduce without the help of someone from the opposite sex?

assisted fertility

Assistance, yes, but no actual sex with the male. And they don't even have to know who he is. Same thing straight couples have been doing for a generation when needed.

Oh I agree with you. Just saying, that it is impossible without both sexes.
