Considering the parade of players heading out there with plaques and having their number retired I think it's a no brainer. Not just a great player but for his service to his country alone. The guy landed on Normandy.
 
I always felt why are the Steinbrenners omitting The
Great Yogi? His omission says more about the owners
than about the man. Yogi belonged before others were
admitted.

Does anyone have a follow up, or know if the W.S. Rings stolen from the Yogi Museum, earlier this year, have any suspects been hooked and booked...........????

I fkn hope so, hang 'em from the nuts from the Statue Of Liberty torch...
 
The last I heard Rob is that they were never recovered but they have been replaced.
 
^^^don't understand the thinking behind stealing something like that...I mean, realistically, it can't be sold on the open market.

Likely melted down so the gold and the gems sold for scrap unfortunately.
 
By no means am I a Yankees fan, but how does he not have one already? Do you have to be dead to get a plaque? So Jeter's not going to get one for 50 years or so?

He has a plaque but not a monument out there. It's a more rare honor but personally for Yogi it should be a no brainer. Not only do you have an all time great from your organization but an all time great in the game itself. And as I mentioned that doesn't even touch on the fact that he served in WWII and was able to tell the story of landing on the beach at Normandy.

I was hoping they had been recovered, simply to give Yogi "some relief" - in a time, when He was literally looking at his last months, ....

I read that article in the news, 500,000 cars recalled, for fraudulent factory emission testing. My Old Man has a 08 VW Bug, was my Mom's.

He called yesterday to say, His "like new" VW with only 35,000 miles on it, will not pass the smog test, and his gas tank is leaking like a sieve.

2nd modern day VW My Mom had, which my Dad now drives since Her passing. Both were POS vehicles. So much for German Tech, being top notch.

What shocked me in that story, was I did not even have a clue that VW also purchased Toyota recently. Guess they got alot in common, when it comes to mega recalls.....:gasoline:
 
...VW fraudulently programed its cars with software that gives false emissions readings...they've set aside $80 Billion to pay for fines/recalls etc., and promised that it won't happen again...lol, it's a little late for that.

...and VW stock is now also in the toilet...losing 1/3 of it's value in the last week.
 
vw's fraud is gonna end up as jail time for a lot of execs. i think the calss actions suits are gonna bankrupt them.

oh, btw, not to diminish yogi's service....he was on a rocket boat 300 yards from shore supporting infantry than did land on shore. yogi was quite candid about being happy he was in the navy and not the army.

...yeah, I knew Yogi served in the Navy on an LTS or whatever you call it but I didn't wanna rain on Yogi's parade either...still, I'd imagine he still came under a lot of enemy fire out in the water.

...as far as the VW fiasco, it's been rumored that there are other car makers as well who have done some manipulating of software and emissions.
