What kind of nudity and violence are you referring to?...and what medium?

Not so, nudity and violence are still available on that medium.
except for the ones they've banned...if you find something offensive and use their service you can complain to them just as people did about the ones that have been banned....suicides on camera and beheadings have been removed from youtube many times as well...you choose your viewing material...they choose to edit material they find offensive...this is such a simple issue.

I don't see this as a being politically motivated as much as the company received, and has received, thousands of complaints about Alex jones. If this was politically motivated they would have done it way before now. He violated there Terms and Service agreement and purposely tried to rile up his viewers to essentially turn into a mob and march and in one of his latest videos you could easily argue that he threatened to do violence against Robert Mueller and threatening violence against a federal official is a felony.

Five of the largest media corporations all received complaints and all independently decided to ban him within hours of one another?

Yeah..some of the really bad stuff gets yanked fast.

Here's YouTube's and Facebook's terms of service:

https://www.youtube.com/static?template=terms

https://www.facebook.com/communitystandards/objectionable_content

You might be able to find some stuff temporarily available but these mediums specifically warn you that your account will be shut down for violating their terms and they have been doing that for a long time.

Hey Spuds, I am not trying to pick nits with you. I understand the TOS on both platforms.

The simple fact is that nudity is still available on You Tube...hmm, not so much is on Facebook..it gets yanked fairly quickly.

As to violence, think about it. That stuff is all over YouTube..and as to Facebook, the simple fact is that with all the cell phones active at every event, the first thing people do is post it to their Facebook account. Heck, a large amount of News Feed comes from that medium as well as being allowed in courts.

I'm not arguing if these videos exist or not, my point is, these are private companies with Terms of Service. They don't want to show certain things but some folks, such as Alex Jones, insist on posting these things anyway despite clear terms and repeated warnings. When these companies find out about violations they delete/ban the videos/posters. It is not censorship or a violation of free speech. No one has the right to tell Alex Jones he can't make videos or post them on the internet, just like no one has the right to tell YouTube or Facebook they have to allow videos of porn, suicides, terrorist attacks, etc. on their site. These are for profit companies and can't be forced to cut their own throats.

Okay...so now you want to qualify what you stated was an absolute.

As to this current line of thinking, Jones was banned for "hate speech". To me this is a very broad definition that can be used to silence from any chosen platform anyone you do not agree with. It does not take much effort to go on any of the mediums that he was removed from and find people that are as rabid or extreme, that have the protection of being socially popular with a chosen demographic.

Kevin Spacey was banned from every movie making producer on the planet at about the same time....for fondling coworkers.....his Netflix show was the number 1 show in Netflix history.....didn't matter...they dumped a cash cow for ethical reasons...even Ridley Scott redid a movie he starred in for ethical reasons. How many folks cancelled their Netflix subscriptions over it? Right.....not one

Qualify a stated absolute? So we're arguing semantics or did you really not understand what I was saying?

It doesn't matter what your definition of "hate speech" is here... it matters what YouTube's and Facebooks, etc. definition is and it is their right to refuse service to anyone they choose.

Hey, Spuds..you stated that there was no sex or violence, I simply disagreed.

As to the other issue, you are legally correct. While I am not a fan of Jones's work, I do take offense to anyone being singled out based on political leanings.

You and I do not agree on this, so be it. Peace and love, live long and prosper or what ever tidings you prefer.

I am certain there is tons of right leaning content on YouTube, Facebook etc... - he was not singled out based on political leaning, he was based for repeatedly violating the TOS.

Okay in an effort to be concise I didn't mention the qualifiers listed in the Terms of Service that I linked.

This is where we disagree, while I do think he was banned for his political leanings I don't think he was singled out. I try to eat a whole food plant based diet so I watch a lot of vegan cooking shows for new recipes. A couple years ago I got sucked into watching all this drama unfold amongst the YouTube vegan/raw vegan/bike riding community where people were actually threatening bodily harm! It was hilarious!!! And, no lie, like 3 or 4 of these non-violent no-animal killing channels got shut down and never came back because they violated the Terms of Service.

Agreed. Very cool and same to you! :smiley-thumbup:

Funny as heck. Violent vegans. Who would have thought that!

Prince made youtube take all of his concert footage down all throughout his career....after he died it all went back on youtube and I binge watched it having never seen his concerts live.....enjoyed the hell out of it.

The article I read continually quoted "hate speech". Dunno, man. Seems odd that all four platforms would spontaneously act in the same manner, with the same pronouncement.

see Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey....all the movie and television industries dumped them in a matter of hours simultaneously...it's marketing and management...both of them were registered democrats....shit happens...ever wonder why Sunday morning broadcasts on TV don't have Wicca rituals followed by televangelists? Because the Sunday morning viewers will stop viewing...

Hmm, I dated a gal that thought Prince was all that and a bag of chips. Had see him once, I think the only thing I enjoyed was his female guitar player.

Yeah..hard to feel ya on this comparison. I see a big difference between a guy that has done the same shtick for years and a guy that gets caught being a perv.

choices.....you can still view Jones...the other guys are blacklisted for probably the rest of their lives....it's not art...it's autographs.

Those of you that are saying Alex Jones is "harmless" and should be taken with "a grain of salt" are not paying attention. A man literally brought an assault rifle to a pizza parlor to free child sex slaves from the basement they were being held. There is no basement. There are no children. Alex Jones promoted Pizzagate. Someone could have been killed.

I love that his material has been banned from these platforms. He's an insane and dangerous voice. Fuck him and fuck his followers. In this day and age such divisiveness people like him SHOULD be silenced.

He was a genius guitarist....

I honestly thought she played circles around him. I would say he was a good showman though. I know he came from a musical back ground, so could be the genius was in has writing and composing?

and back to that argument..hahahha

Yeah..well, I still have a beer on ice for ya.

So, then, everyone should be in lock step with your beliefs. Sounds reasonable.

He was a genius guitarist....

...yup, and on top of that he reportedly could play 27 different instruments...I know that on his first album "Just For You", he played virtually every heard on the album. Stevie Wonder did the same thing on "Inner Visions"
...in addition to writing a lot of hit songs for other artists, Prince wrote and produced most all of his own stuff ...he pretty much did it all. A true musical genius... They also say he was a helluva basketball player.

Sorry but Alex Jones isn't responsible for the actions of others. Adults don't need other adults filtering information for them because...adults aren't children. Your assertion is the same as the conservative extremists who were trying to ban Ozzy Osbourne in the 80's. It's obnoxious, hysterical bullshit.

...if he incites violence, yes, he is.
