Anyone who has lied, scammed, and cheated his way into hundreds of millions, if not billions of dollars, then into the White House, and almost destroying what was/is considered one of the most stable governments in the world, can't be dismissed as dumb.
You seem to be conflating success due to daddy and having zero scruples with intelligence, there's a difference. Exhibit A is the title of this thread. But beyond that his past is diluted with examples of stupidity. Just because a lot of other stupid people believe his lies, that doesn't equate to actual intelligence. It just means there are other people that are even dumber.

Let's be real for a minute, Trump will never spend a day in jail. Not saying he won't be convicted, but in an actual jail or prison cell, won't happen. If convicted he will be given every opportunity to appeal and in the end, his convictions will decided by the Supreme Court and that is very much a crapshoot if they will let any convictions stand.

I personally think Trump will die before he gets to the end of any appeals but actual jail, not happening.

Conviction is the win. The jail for him is the grave. He just needs to be held accountable.

Trump is intelligent. Don't underestimate him.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Donald Trump's Rambling Sentence on July 21, 2015

Look, having nuclear — my uncle was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. John Trump at MIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Wharton School of Finance, very good, very smart — you know, if you’re a conservative Republican, if I were a liberal, if, like, OK, if I ran as a liberal Democrat, they would say I'm one of the smartest people anywhere in the world — it’s true! — but when you're a conservative Republican they try — oh, do they do a number — that’s why I always start off: Went to Wharton, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune — you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged — but you look at the nuclear deal, the thing that really bothers me — it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are — nuclear is so powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what's going to happen and he was right, who would have thought? — but when you look at what's going on with the four prisoners — now it used to be three, now it’s four — but when it was three and even now, I would have said it's all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don't, they haven’t figured that the women are smarter right now than the men, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years — but the Persians are great negotiators, the Iranians are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us, this is horrible.

If you look at that as freeform poetry, it’s brilliant.

Trump contains multitudes... of monkeys banging on typewriters.

I could see him fleeing if he is convicted.

Wow that would be so crazy. I guess the secret service would still have to protect him and would not help any other department arrest him? That would be wild to have the secret service protecting Trump in Russia or some place.

Would they be required to follow him? He might be on his own because he would be a fugitive.

Although there are indications of corruption among individual secret service members, they are law enforcement officers.
So if they don't want to be charged with various crimes themselves, they are duty bound to prevent him from fleeing.
And so, if they follow him to Russia, it will be to bring him back to face justice.

Or they can follow him to Russia but they won't be paid by the US and you know that old lard ass won't be paying them.
