Totally agree. I see no drawbacks using instant replay. I don't care if it takes 5 minutes to make a decision. As long as the correct decision is made.
 
They have been able to check at the end of each 1/4 to see if they got the shot off with time still on the clock and I know for a fact that has changed the outcome of many games. This is a good thing.
 
Just got this memo from my inside informant down at the Rose Garden. He reminded me that last season @ Toronto with 9 seconds left, Calderon hit a "3" to give the Raptors a 104-101 lead. But being the professionals that they are, Blazer Broadcasting was all over it. Showing that Jose's foot was on the line and the shot should have been a 2. Thus BRoy's 3 he hit at the buzzer would have won the game and not tied it and sent it into double OT. Had these new replay rules been in affect, the Blazers would have left the beautiful city of Toronto with a W.

I'm all for it as long as they check during timeouts, commercial, and breaks....but not during the game cause that KILLS momentum.
 
As long as it's not interrupting the game too much (free throws already do too much of that), I'm glad to see it added.

Personally I liked the idea of trying to tie it to timeouts. For example, give the coaches the ability to request that the last play get reviewed during a timeout. This way it doesn't interrupt the game unreasonably(although it will probably cause a lot of timeouts that wouldn't have been called at that point, however as timeouts are a limited resource I don't think it'll happen too often). This also makes it more of a strategic choice for coaches. Do I blow a timeout for the possibility of reversing an important call? Or save it for crunch time when we need it to move the ball up the court?
 
I think they have to wait for a dead ball situation.

Yeah, after every play there is a delay. This isn't like football at least.

Even if you adjust later, What if 5 or 6 plays happen in succession, then what. this sounds pretty lame.

What if there are no dead balls for a few minutes? All of a sudden, they'll go back a bunch of plays to review tape when someone is fouled? This clearly interrupts the flow of the game. Just seeing how long it takes to review a play at end of quarters....then apply this to in -game siutations when teams are on streaks and runs?

again, boo to this.
 
why even have refs? just have them floating above the court with TV monitors while watching games on Tivo.

Think about if there was instant replay when we played the Lakers in the WCF in game 7 (I cannot remember the year). I don't really remember exactly what happened but all I remember is we had the ball, Scottie was taking it up the court, one of the Lakers hit the ball out of bounds and they called it out on Scottie when it was clearly off the Lakers.

Also, if there was instant replay... we could have won the Finals against the Pistons in that one game where Danny Young hit that half court 3 pointer at the buzzer and the refs said it didn't count.

Those are two of the worst memories I have about the Blazers.

And when Sean Elliot hit that shot at the buzzer that beat us, but at least he was in bounds and before the clock.

Even my nine-year-old homer self was able to admit that Danny Young's shot was late. What are you smoking?
 
The rule about 3 pointers is total BS...If it was only after dead balls then Im fine with it but the wording does not implay that. It states "at any time during the game" as in when a shot is made and the other team should be taking it out of bounds. This is a total momentum killer if they use it like that. Horrible, horrible rule
