Interesting Offseason

The names you are throwing out there get us into the conversation, I agree. Chytil, Buch, kids, maybe the second 1st round pick. That's my point, it will take a real big offer to get Monahan. At days end though I'd still be surprised if they deal him, unless the offer is simply too good to pass up.

Monahan's value is down in my book. As Gaudreau sucked this year so did Monahan. That tells me that he's a complimentary player much like Strome who will only produce at a very good level if the star on his line is having a good year. He's not capable of carrying a line and making his line mates better.

I think Strome would have been traded already if any team had interest in him. I'm hesitant to trade younger players unless it's for a proven commodity which Monahan certainly is and he and Gaudreau are both being mentioned after the postseason flameout. The Rangers definitely need to add toughness so a guy like Bennett works but Calgary plays a much more physical game, not sure how finesse players like Buch or Chytil (who I would not trade) fit in to that style of play.

We'll see what Calgary does. Not sure if their plan is to break it up or not, but even if they do I still think Monahan is going to cost a lot, and he may be worth the price because he'd be a great fit here.

100% agree and to get a player like Monahan names like Fox have to be mentioned, not pieces the Rangers don't need in their lineup.

Nonsense. I wouldn't trade Fox straight up for Monahan. Like I said. He's a complimentary player. Look at his numbers last season. He sucked because Gaudreau wasn't good. You're nuts if you don't want to trade Buchnevich. That guy is is a moron. He will never be a good playoff guy.

OK, then if he is a complimentary player why are we talking about him? I thought the intention was to trade for a difference making #2 center. What am I missing?

To show how far the Rangers have come in a short period of time, even if they do nothing except re-sign their own RFA's, we'd have a darn good team:

Lafreniere/Ziban/Buch
Panarin/Strome/Kakko
Kreider/Chytil/Gauthier
Lemieux/Howden/Barron

Hajek/Trouba
Lindgren/Fox
Staal/DeAngelo

Kravtsov and Miller potentially play a role as the season progresses.

That's a pretty good team. A playoff team I believe. Excellent forward depth. If Lafreniere is ready like they say he is, Kakko takes a step forward, Lindgren and Fox stay strong, and Trouba stabilizes in year two in NY, that could be a very good team.

We know they'll make moves and this won't be the exact team, but I post this to show even if we do nothing but re-sign our RFA's we are in a real good spot.

Monahan is a big upgrade from Strome who I don't think is that good. For starters he's good on draws and this team has been getting smoked on draws for years. A second line center is really a player that compliments somebody else just like a second line wing is. Only first line players make other players better. On our team it so happens that Panarin and Zibanejad who are both first line players play on separate lines to give the team more scoring depth. Those players that make other players better usually cost 10 to 14 million. I don't expect Monahan to make other guys better. What I expect him to do is win 52% of his draws, play physical and playing with a guy like Panarin, capitalizing on his talent and putting up 80+ points while bringing more of a playoff type game to the team.

Did not write I wouldn't trade Buch dump, Chytil is the guy I wouldn't trade for Monahan because of his age, size and skating. Monahan is definitely mentioned in trade articles along with his shitty playoff performance and the more I read about him the more I'd rather have Bennett. Nylander is the guy for the Rangers to go after. Toronto needs RH shooting dmen? They can have Fox and Tony D. for Nylander, the Rangers are loaded defensively.. I'm confident in JD and Gorton and think they have enough pieces via players and draft picks to get it done.

Ottawa has offered their #3 & #5 for the Rangers #1, no way I do it.

Monahan's playoff numbers are interesting. Overall he had 8 points in 10 playoff games this year. And he has 10 points in 15 total playoff games over the past two years, pretty solid. But he only had 2 points in 6 games against the Stars (both in the same game). He had 6 points in 4 games against the Jets, and 5 of those points were in 2 games. So it is a bit spotty/hit and miss.

As for Nylander, can he play C full-time? He has played W for the Leafs. If he can be a full-time C he is worth a look. Signed for 4 more seasons at just under 7 mill per, and only 24. If he cannot play C full-time then I don't think he's the best fit. I do think Toronto has to make some moves to change the chemistry on that team. More D/goaltending and less flash upfront. I would not deal Fox though. We have plenty of other chips, and shouldn't have to deal Fox in any package.

As for the Ottawa offer, their owner came out and said no shot they do that deal. And no way I do it anyway, so that's fine by me.

Chytil has shown upside but nothing to get that excited about. He sucks on faceoffs and is not improving which puts him as a wing. I don't see him being as good as any of our top 4 wings. He's not a 3rd line type. I think he can be a 50 point guy but Monahan is a guy that would provide the team with something they need more. A big, physical center to win draws who can play with Panarin. I see Chytil as expendable in the right deal.

I think one of Buch or Chytil should go. They are both softer finesse type players, and we need to add some more grit and toughness, so I am okay if one of these guys go. In a perfect world I rather trade Buch, but if Chytil is the guy who gets us the clearly better C in return, I deal Chytil. With that said, given our assets I think we can get by with dealing Buch for a C in a package rather than Chytil.

I think Chytil has a pretty big upside. I see some Zibanejad in him with his skating and shot. Zibanejad didn't break out until 24-25. Chtyil 20. If they can get a second line center without moving him that would be great. One thing he does real well is carry the puck through the neutral zone and get the puck in to the other teams zone.

This is Howden's last chance here IMO. He has praise from Quinn all the time and IMO he hasn't earned any of it. If can't be a dominant faceoff and PK guy then he doesn't have much value on this team. He needs to win 52+% of this draws next year and actually be a dangerous PK player. If he can't do that then it's time for the team to explore other options.

I hear you on Howden, but let's remember he only turned 22 in late March, I think he deserves the shot next year to continue his growth. I'll also add that Gorton and JD are clearly fans of his, in addition to Quinn. They all went out of their way to praise him after his play in the bubble. We'll see where he goes from here, but as of now I think he has the makings of being the player you mentioned regarding FO's and PK.

Right now I have just shut off all sports. I can't take anymore of these losers supporting black thugs who get shot by the police. Saints putting this scumbags name on his helmet when he was wanted for sexual assault. Fuck him.

Nothing to do about being triggered. It's about people like yourself who continue to ignore that America now wants to support felons because they are black. When that happens, you are finished as a country. Time to move elsewhere if you have the means.

There comes a point in time where you have to look at your country objectively and tell the truth. America has become a fucking embarrassment which is full of easy offended, pansies who cry all day long about shit.

Nylander was drafted as a center. I still think Chytil has a good chance of being the #2C, he's only 20 but 6'2" 208 with elite skating skills. I like Nylander because of his age and Toronto is desperate for defensive help. I think some of the toughness issues will dissipate as the team matures and most get bigger and stronger, Had to laugh at AV calling out Giroux for underperforming - more irony.

Kravtsov slated to spend the year with Traktor but can technically be recalled. At least he'll be getting some PT starting in Oct.

Traktor wanted a no recall contract. Dickheads. They are so full of themselves in the KHL.

Plus Kravtsov would probably not be thrilled if we agreed to that. Hopefully he continues maturing physically and doesn't just take it easy. Guess Rykov will be there too.

In other news, another dumb, black, convict male punches a cop, has a gun and gets shot. Blacks riot and protest. You would think that black males would actually learn that if you punch the police you are going to get shot because if you're that stupid to punch a cop you are crazy enough to shoot one.
