Start Bayless. Bring Rudy back off the bench......from where he was more comfortable.

Thoughts?

yes please, but bring him in quicker than Joel, sooner than the 4 minute mark.

Hmm, I don't know. Rudy clearly plays better w/ Sergio and Sergio w/ Rudy, but that's an awful lot of pressure to put on Bayless, especially since it doesn't look like Nate knows what to do with him.

and if we can, limit Trout's minutes so we can get S-bo, or Ike some burn. I know Ike hustles on the boards, and I wanna see SBO!

Actually I don't think Bayless quite knows what to do with himself. He always looks like he's trying to prove he can play the point and as a result is too passive in calling his own number.

I'm not sure I agree with the Wild One in this regard, but the Blazers are clearly foundering, trying to find some kind of answer at the 2 with Brandon out -- I guess it couldn't get any worse, we're already losing games by 15+

Anything that stops the Sergio/Bayless combo is fine by me. That combo is the worst since Telfair/Damon had to share some time in the backcourt.

I agree with this, although I think it's the Blazers who are trying to turn him into a point. I think they've managed to convince Bayless that he needs to pass more. (which he really doesn't.)

Let's start him at PG so we can run out four rookies. Then maybe we can scoop up a rookie power forward to complete the set.

I'd say no. Let Rudy get comfy in the starting role and Bayless continue to ease his way in.

Ed O.

if you think a bayless/sergio backcourt is tough to watch i can't wait for bayless/blake. please let's start two 6' 2-3" guards.

Before I'd consider that, I'd look at moving Sergio to the starting lineup so that he plays with Rudy, and drop Blake back to the second unit with Bayless.

Bayless needs to play point guard. The shooting guard experiment isn't working.

Maybe we could start Bayless at PF.

Oden would make a good PG.

hahahahaha....some of you think he's a PG still, how funny

He's like Roy; A SG that needs the ball in his hands to create. Bayless can't play off the ball: he doesn't know how yet.

anyone else think the Dleauge would benefit Jerryd at this point in his career?

i would like to see bayless start, at point or 2, dont care. but without brandon almost all of our shots are coming from the outside. bayless can get to the rim with ease and though he may not be making any shots or great decisions yet atleast he could get opposing teams bigs in foul trouble early making it easier on greg. iso jerryd the first few plays of the game and see what happens, if he fails yank him. whats the worst that could happen? we're down 8? take the leash off, if he develops any pg skills, all that penetration could could get greg a lot of easy buckets. remember rod strickland?

Not so much. He'd be the most athletic, dominant 1-on-5 scorer in the history of the JVs, which pretty much does diddly poo for his need to learn to integrate his skills with good/better players.

Start me.

I'm pretty sure I can't do any worse than JB has so far.

The last thing he needs is to be embarrassed by a vet right now.

Neither can Roy, and it's pitiful for someone who gets so much praise.

Basic requirement for a SG, IMO.

Defense is a pretty basic requirement for any basketball player.

Did Sergio miss that memo? :dunno:

I wonder how Bayless would eventually rate up against Derek Fisher? Now THERE's a pure PG if I ever saw one. ;)

Detroit is actually a perfect team to start Bayless and Blake against because they have a small backcourt in Stuckey and AI.

So there is no way Nate will do it

I disagree, clearly he's more combo guard than pure point guard, but just because AZ plugged him into the shooting guard role his lone year in college because of an injury to a teammate doesn't mean J-Bay isn't a point guard. The problem I see is Bayless trying to prove that he's a pass first point guard when he's probably more of a scoring point guard. I have a funny feeling that if he let his inner "Marbury" come out he'd look a helluva lot more comfortable on the court and would probably end up generating a lot more offense (on both drives, kick outs and getting his own shot).

The kid just needs to calm down, let things slow down a little bit and try to let the game come to him; you almost get the feeling he's trying to think too much.

We have a winner! I agree let Bayless be Bayless.

I don't think it's that terrible of an idea with Rudy struggling as a starter, just to see if it would jumpstart him off the bench. We need him right now, and can't afford him to be missing wide opens 3s and playing like he has lately. We seem to start games off well anyways.. it'd be worth a shot.

No, in fact I think that is a fairly stupid idea. Bayless has a lot of capabilities, just because he is a rookie and hasn't jumped out scoring 20 points a game from the get go does not mean D league.

I see a lot of folks thinking that Rudy will be more comfortable coming off the bench or whatever. Did anybody pause to think that maybe he just hit his rookie wall, and all of this conjecture, is just that?
