I hope that it's just an Obama fan who bought that domain and is redirecting it to Obama's site and not someone involved with his reelection campaign.

I'm just amazed that someone thinks the order to kill Osama Bin Laden was a "gutsy call". Even if it would have failed, the criticism of trying to capture or kill Bin Laden and scour the compound for intelligence would be pretty silly.

The good part in the short term is that Bin Laden is dead. The good part in the long term is that the stuff found around the complex may help us dismantle Al Qaeda. A bombing run would have been the wrong decision because of the long term benefit of gathering intelligence.

I disagree a bit. There's a lot of pressure on the Nobel Peace Prize winner to stick up to his promises to close Gitmo, bring the troops home, forget about the "War on Terror" and OBL, and make friends with Islamic peoples by not trying to rub our might in their faces.

Whether or not you think those are priorities he should have, he went against almost all of them by using evidence received through "advanced interrogation techniques" to order a unilateral military action in another sovereign nation (which happened to be an Islamic "ally"), without(?) their permission, and to have it result in the execution of OBL. If it wasn't him, and the SEALs killed a bunch of coolies for no reason, then I think there would've been a crazy amount of $hit heaped on him, especially if he said "well, we thought it was good intel....we got it from waterboarding KSM..." :dunno:

You're assuming he acknowledges where the info came from. As far as I can tell, with the exception of Leon Panetta, the Administration believes the intelligence to find him was left under President Obama's pillow by the tooth fairy.

As for criticism, he can piss off the Left as much as he wants. There's no where else they're going to go. They learned their lesson from Nader. The 2012 battle is going to be for the Independents, who would be more than supportive of trying to capture or kill Bin Laden and grab intelligence from his compound.

I can see your point, but if that's the case and it didn't work, I could see a bunch of independents saying something like "he just pulled a cowboy move like W...going in half-cocked to another country. Who does he think he is?"

But as Patton said, "America loves a winner, and will not tolerate a loser". (Well, maybe the last part changed). So while it was calculated, and the risk wasn't huge (since I imagine in the 8 months or so since he found out he's been able to verify the initial intel and train up the team that got him) it still was a call I wasn't sure he's capable of making. For damn sure Carter wouldn't have.

Didn't Carter attempt to rescue the hostages in Iran? Arguably that was a bigger, more risky operation.
