There is a stark contrast in these situations though for the most part. We weren’t necessarily battling those countries militaries (outside of the Hussein bout), we were/are fighting insurgents in guerrilla warfare ( al-Qaeda/Taliban). Iran is a little more cut and dry, as it is the country itself.Just like Afghanistan and Iraq are glowing, eh?
This is basically the equivalent of you being a kid and you throw a rock at the window, your dad spanks you hard, and you’re mad... so you eat his leftovers in the fridge. Yeah, you wanted to throw hands but you know you’re gonna lose that battle 10/10 times so you’re gonna do some small scale retaliation with no real blowback. That was by design. By no loss of life (I would even think they warned the US to clear people ahead of the strike), they are less likely to have this escalate into war.
It's not so much what he did as it's more about not having a follow up plan and knowing what his actions created as far as repurcussions go. Just like his pulling troops out of Syria and then chaos for the Kurds who helped repel isis.I'll preface this by saying I hate both sides of politics (Republicans and Democrats), ha ha, because I feel like both sides have gone too extreme.
I completely understand that Trump started this by signing off on the assassination of the Iranian general but we're acting like no other president has done anything like that. I'm also not advocating war but what other president would get this much heat for responding to an actual attack on the U.S.?
We're actually going to let them get away with shooting missles at our bases because "fuck Trump"? If we do nothing and they develop nukes or prepare for more attacks while we take them at their word wouldn't that open up the possibility of them starting the war on their terms?
I don't really know what the right answer is here and am in no way supporting Trump (fuck that guy) but reading through comments on here it seems like people can't separate their hatred for him from what to actually do.
well said and feel the same way!I'll preface this by saying I hate both sides of politics (Republicans and Democrats), ha ha, because I feel like both sides have gone too extreme.

Agree..they've saved face, but I also think they realize its not worth losing their regime over. They purposely missed targets and fired up their propaganda machine. The religous Mullahs are all aboutn power and control over their people, they never want to lose that.I kind of think their reaction was best case scenario. They couldn't just walk away and face their people after we off'ed one of their main guys. They had to do something and what they did was effectively lob a few missiles into the dirt and call us names. That is as close to nothing as we can realistically expect. No need to keep escalating.
Lanny, they are fighting a holy war and any western country or Israel represents in their mind The Great Satan and Little Satan. If they have a nuke soon, and I believe they will, it will be thanks to Trump who killed the deal on Iran's nukes.

Their end game with or without an agreement is our destruction and they know they will never be able to with a convention army, so nukes are their gift form their God Allah.
The Iranian people/civilian mass, I don't feel feel this way, its all a way for their religious nuts to maintain power and suppression.
I’m with you, we need to leave the region as centuries of religious wars, never ends there. We've invaded the countries on either side of them. If China were to invade Mexico and Canada I'd be freaking the fuck out and calling them things like The Great Satan.
We need to get the fuck out of the middle east and we need to stop arming the countries pretending to be our allies.

they have already invaded BC, have you been to Vancouver lately?
I call horse apples and buffalo chips.
Reports of the rockets actual landing sites are just being made puplic.
Two of the rockets landed inside the green zone in Baghdad. One less than 100 yards from our embassy.
I was covering the territory when the lease was up and the migration started. A friend of mine had a house on the Frazier river in Richmond that he sold to a Chinese family for nearly 20 times what he purchased it for, they tore it down and built a multi family dwelling. Those from Hong Kong were allowed long term visa/citizenships if they invested big bucks in business, which I thought was smart. Canada needed people and people with money.Yes I have, and it's not an invasion, it was to do with the lease being up on Hong Kong.

That is correct, but I remember there was an incentive for investment in a business.I'm pretty sure you're not correct. If I remember right the people under British rule in Hong Kong were considered British citizens and were allowed to immigrate to any of the British commonwealth countries. Vancouver was a popular choice because it is the easiest to travel to and from Hong Kong.
This is what I was referring too. Interesting article. That is correct, but I remember there was an incentive for investment in a business.
This is Trump type of thinking because it would surely lead to all out war.I still think the best thing would just be to completely isolate the Middle East. No travel in or out. No commerce. Let them figure out their own shit. Tired of dealing with their extreme religious beliefs and their politics.
If he de-escalates and can "look" like a president of peace does that increase his chance for re-election?Just call it over.
Glad the dude is dead. They retaliated. Now lets go back to getting this lunatic in the white house out of there before he escalates shit that doesnt need escalation.
It's not over. It's just beginning
It's not over. It's just beginning
Agree, sort of.
My guess is, this is the end of the beginning.
Iran's war against the USA and allies has entered a new phase. Iran will change their strategy and cause as much destabilization around the world as possible.
Even if we leave the area completely, Iran will shift their aggressive behavior somewhere else. They already sponsor many terrorist activities around the world.
Sadly, the big picture still looks very bleak.
Not defending Trump at all, but we have at least half a centuries worth of "bad decisions" on the Middle East, but because it's Trump making bad decisions, were now going to act like wow he's done all of this, he's the one who really screwed it up. We haven't had a president that handled the Middle East well in my life time.Leaving Syria and now attacking Iran who is showing us the door, has dramatically changed the geo-political map.
The middle east will solidify against us. We had a foot in the door to stop this, but a few ignorant decisions by Trump has fucked us.
