Several years ago, then Congressman Anthony Weiner was reported to have sent pictures of his genitalia to an underage young woman. He went on The Rachel Maddow Show and explained to Ms. Maddow, very persuasively, that his account had been hacked. That anyone with the name he has will get some jokes. Just the right amount of humor and believability. Then it surfaced there were more pics, and more women. He stared frankly at the camera and lied in his fucking teeth.
So yeah, I have doubts about "hacked account", as others have said, you take it down, not leave for years!
What do I expect of 19 or 20? At 19 a person is a legal adult. If a citizen he/she can vote and run for political office. He/she can sign contracts, join the military, take any job that does not involve selling/serving alcohol, get married. So I expect that by 19 a person will know what bigotry is and that words and actions have consequences. And that if a person does do a "young and dumb" (and I do not consider expressions of bigotry "young and dumb") that later in life, especially if he/she becomes a public figure, to not deny it but to be an adult and admit that "yes, I said something I should not have, I know better now", not say "I was hacked" and refuse to take responsibility.
