39 points on 38 shots, not that great but he had 14 rebounds 11 assists and 3 steals, thats a still a hell of a statline but im not going to get into a Westbrook debate with you because its pointless, westbrook could score 100 points in 5 straight games while dishing out 15 assists and youd fine something to try and discredit it.
There is no denying Westbrook's talent... He's played real well over the past 4 games.
My biggest issue is his shooting % and his assist to turnover rate. Yes he had 11 assist last night vs the Suns, but he also had 4 turnovers.
The game before he had 5 turnovers vs the Pacers with only 10 assists.
The game before he had 17 assist with only 2 turnovers. That's a great assist to turnover ratio, Nuggets or not.
The game before he had 6 turnovers and 10 assists vs the Hornets.
That's 3 out of 4 games with a terrible assist to turnover ratio... a Point guard.. Can't have that ratio.
If you remember the first game in Portland when Westbrook got 40... He had 3 straight turnovers in the 4th quarter while driving in that led to points for the Blazers.
A point guard can't do that. It's not acceptable... Yes they wouldn't have been in the game without Westbrook dropping 40... But he also ruined his team's chances of winning with his black hole type play.
The game vs OKC as Kingspeed stated... All Westbrook had to do is not reach vs Lillard... Yet he did and then he compounded it by getting a Tech...
Wasn't that also Westbrook's 6th foul? I don't remember, maybe he fouled out in OT.
Once again, the Thunder wouldn't have been there without him... But, he once again ruined his teams chances of winning by not making the correct basketball play.
Westbrook is a top 10 maybe even top 5 player in the NBA, but when the game is on the line.. vs a playoff team... He's shown he comes up small.
The Thunder need KD. Westbrook is a good 3 and 3/4ths quarter player. But when crunch time happens... He comes up small more often than not.
