Is Brandon Roy a long time All-Star?

I am on record that people are still underrating Roy. I have a feeling he is going to have a really great year as well.

Roy will be an all star virtually every year. Coaches love the way he plays I don't see that changing. Coaches are obviously better at judging players than we are. They have to game plan against guys like Baron, DWilliams and Roy so if they chose Roy there is a reason.

B-Roy will be a perennial All Star, but maybe not this season. Our early schedule is brutal so I fear our record will not be that impressive during the time that fans vote.

Ray Allen had 8 All-Star appearances. I think in his prime Roy is going to be that level of talent. Never the best shooting guard in the league, but always in that list of other guys you have to talk about while making the list.

Rip Hamilton had 3 All-Stars. But I think most people already rate Roy higher than Hamilton in his prime.

He probably won't make 8 all-star appearances because his game isn't as flashy. But he'll get more than 3, because he'll be a bigger key to the team's success than Hamilton.

Really tough to say with any certainty, though. This current team has the potential to pull off a 6 championship dynasty if everything clicks. If it comes close to doing that, Roy will get plenty of All-Star recognition.

you had me until the "more than hold his own against CP3" comment...lol...it's hard for a whole team to contain Paul...lol. But I'm a fan of Roy....I was pissed when my Wolves traded him on draft day for Foye....I really like Foye as well...but I just had a feeling we made a big mistake letting Roy go. Kinda like when we traded Mayo....but then I weighed the Pro/Cons....now I'm feeling better

If you think Roy couldn't handle Paul on the defensive end, then I doubt Paul could handle Roy one on one defensively either.

That's all well and fine....the point some of us are trying to make is, if Roy is a future 6 time allstar, then Paul is a future 15 time allstar and DWill is a future 10-12 time allstar...lol.

Although Roy is good, he still won't be seen as a "ballot-allstar" (ie; no flashy play for the fans to oogle...lol)...but he'll get in on coaches votes.

Tim Duncan has gotten in for years and he's not flashy. Not saying Brandon is at Duncan's level but you don't need to be all flash to get in.
And I fail to see your proof that if Roy gets in six all-star games, then Paul and DWill are 10-15 time All-Stars because they're more flashy?
They may be more well-known players right now but I'm thinking people will know who Roy is come this year, which is what my original point was.

Brandon can play the 1 and 2, Deron can't really play the 2..the versatility is why I take Roy.

I don't think we've reached the pinacle of what Roy can do yet. D. Williams had a better supporting cast last year and plays a different position- so tough to compare.

One point that I don't think is considered enough is that Roy is the type of all-star that is also a glue player- I don't think you can say that about many shooting guards (mcGrady for instance). He does the little things and is our team's leader. He told off Zach Randolph as a rookie.

Would I bet on Roy making the all-star game several more times? i definitely wouldn't bet against him- he will keep getting better, barring injury.

yes I see what you're talking about... you've a disagreement with the NBA coaches in the Western conference and feel that you know better then them which is (of course) ridiculous. When confronted with these facts, you're getting upset and blaming the messenger.

Try not to be so sensitive.

STOMP

umm.....what? just the fact that you are responding in such a negative direct fashion further proves that you are getting sensitive toward what I have to say. Isn't everyone entitled to their say so? I hope you took the time to direct you frustrations towards the other posters in the forum who were stating the same ideals I am.

And if you took the time to actually read and understand what i was saying instead of trying to just raise a fuss, you would notice that I clearly said I had no problem with Roy being an all-star and like his style of play. I'm just putting it out there that with Roy's style of game he will not ne a consistent "ballot-allstar" meaning the fans will more often than not pass him over for the more flashier players and get in on coaches votes (that proving how you chose to disregard my comment to try and make an ignorant comment on how I "think I know more than coaches")

But it's all good, just make sure you read someones full comment and "understand" it before you call someone out for something you clearly overlooked.

Damn....my fingers hurt....lol

oh...ahhhh......tap!!! lol

Great quote from last night

"In a back hallway in Arco Arena, I overheard Kings' VP of basketball operations Wayne Cooper muttering to a colleague: "That Brandon Roy is (bleeping) good.''

I think we'll see an even better Roy than last year. With Rudy and Oden now in the lineup teams can't double or triple team him like they use to do.

Good point with Duncan not being flashy...but someone that can put up the averages that he has (and rings) will get recognition.

It's starting to look like eveyone is targeting on me...lol...I have nothing against Roy...I like his game and think he'll be great (I was mad when my Wolves traded him on draft night). I'm just stating that after it's all said an done, Paul and Dwill will be in more All-star games, that's all. The SG slot is clogged with talent and he will get snubbed more often than not. Besides after seeing what DWill did in the playoffs against tried and true playoff teams....he won't get overlooked again

Roy is a beast

They will both make numerous AS games sans injuries. The SG spot in the west is going to get weak in a couple of years when TMac and Kobe start declining and i don't see anyone being better than Roy at the 2 guard in 5 years.
