Stating facts is "boorish"? Those things happened, and the post I was answering said they did not. How I feel about them being said is another story.![]()

I was a Blazer fan from their inception and will die a Blazer fan. Some bad years, cheering for undeserving players, having a GM I didn't like or an owner I thought was going about building the team the wrong way won't change that. This team represents my home town.
There are better parents, aunts, uncles and cousins than mine out there, but it doesn't matter. My family is my family. There are high schools and colleges with better sports progams out there, but I have school pride. There are even better fans and posters than you lot, but fuck them. You're all Blazer fans and because of that I'll always have your back against other team's fan bases, even though we disagree in here.
I'm a knuckle-dragging simpleton who is a sucker in John Cazano's eyes. You know what? I can live with his judgment. Loyalty is a virtue.
Go. Blazers.

It was a fair and good column. Interesting take, provocative. That is his job. I don't get why everyone here rails on him so much. He's a sports columnist. He writes sports columns. He's a good writer, not a homer, knows his stuff.
Well IF those are both actually true, then I can keep a little more respect for Canzano. I don't have time to scan every single Blazers blog, twitter feed, radio show interview, and everything else like some of you probably do. But that doesn't change the fact that this is all a huge overreaction (just like the draft) and people are just kidding themselves if they think Brandon won't be signed back with the Blazers.Roy texted Brian Wheeler yesterday saying he is "frustrated and disappointed" about his contract situation, and that he would be putting out a statement next week regarding it. He also used those words on KJR in Seattle yesterday. Knowing this, your entire post should probably be retracted.![]()
Another thought on Canzano.
Despite the fact he's a liar, and a cluless hack, he does have writing skills. He could be a pretty good columnist if he didn't feel the need to be Howard Cosell.

Well because I doubted he actually said it, I found a link to the interview and listened to it myself. Annndd what a HUGE surprise: My post was COMPLETELY accurate, and Brandon did NOT say he was frustrated NOR disappointed!! So I take back NOTHING of what I typed in said "lengthy" (since when is a paragraph and a half lengthy?) post. It was a TEXTBOOK job of Canzano putting words in Roy's mouth, and naturally 90%+ of Blazer fans didn't listen to the interview yet soaked it up like a sponge, just like PapaG (who's posting from a "position of ignorance" now, Papa?) lol..In other words, your lengthy post was inaccurate and came from a position of ignorance.

(And by the way, no, a "text message to Brian Wheeler" doesn't mean a damn thing.)
Anyway, here's the link to the short interview. I encourage you all to listen to it carefully (warning: long link): http://a1135.g.akamai.net/f/1135/18...inment&PCAST_TITLE=Dave_Softy_Mahler_OnDemand
I'll type it again in hopes you'll read this time: a supposed "text message to Brian Wheeler" doesn't mean anything. 100% hearsay.
So you are calling Brian Wheeler a liar? It's not "hearsay" when he cites a text as a source. Is Wheeler lying about it?
He won AP columnist of the year.
I'm beginning to feel that way.
- The Roy contract fiasco
- The Comcast fiasco
- Threats about Paul Allen not "subsidizing" the team to stay in Portland
- Elevated ticket prices in a poor economy, some as much as 300%
The Blazers sure don't seem to have much loyalty to their players or their fans. I'm happy Canzano wrote this article.
- The Roy contract fiasco
isn't really a fiasco.
- The Comcast fiasco
can be blamed on Comcast and the Dish companies and the Blazers, equally.
- Threats about Paul Allen not "subsidizing" the team to stay in Portland
are absurd.
- Elevated ticket prices in a poor economy, some as much as 300%
Most of the ticket prices that increased were decreased when the team was losing and attendance went in the tank, some as much as 300%.
Just sayin'.
Threats about Paul Allen not "subsidizing" the team to stay in Portland
are absurd.
I'm not calling Wheels a liar. I'm simply saying there's no way we can verify whether it's legitimate or not...we just have to take his word for it, and that's not at all admissible. So you are calling Brian Wheeler a liar? It's not "hearsay" when he cites a text as a source. Is Wheeler lying about it?
