He trades Dame for Jrue, Camara, and then Jrue for Brogdon, RW3, and picks. Gets Deni out of Brogdon and pick. Gets Jrue and Dame BACK for Simons and gives Milwaukee their picks back to turn Grant/Scoot into Giannis.

Essentially…

Blazers give up :
3rd pick in 2023 draft
14th pick in 2024 draft
Simons
Grant

Blazers get:
Giannis
Avdija
Camara
Jrue
RW3

Who was better? You could argue Petrie, but IMO not pulling the trigger for Barkley and the fire sale on Drazen hurts him.

But the trading of Jermaine, over tinkering with the 2000 team leading its collapse gets a pass?

Sir, you owe me royalties for stealing my joke.
I missed the joke, sorry, but in fairness, I was napping.

Also I think napping is funnier than slept through, so improved the joke is more accurate than stole

Nap implies a little tired. slept through implies I must've missed a long chunk of time. Both are funny, mine was just first.

I HATE Y...er, I mean, DAMN YOU BLAZER BROADCASTING AND OR MEDICAL STAFF!

He traded an all star (Norman powell) for Keon Johnson so. ..
That was such an insane trade at the time. Can't believe how many people here were celebrating and defending it. Like we were going to accomplish something with the cap savings (we didn't) or that Keon was still worth a 1RP (he wasn't) or that Norm had this horrible contract (he didn't) only a few months after the contract was widely celebrated.

Crazy Norm is STILL on that same contract. I always thought Norm was the one single guard out of the Dame/CJ/Ant era that we should hold onto as he was the only one who could play defense and play well without dominating possessions.

Thankfully Cronin got a haul in the Dame trade which is basically our entire rebuild. But that Clippers deal, drafting Murray, losing Hart, and over paying Grant were all a bunch of super shitty moves.

I'm hopeful a big part of the dumb moves were Jody/Vulcan/Kolde input. We'll find out more on that in the months ahead.

Josh Hart says hello

Hart never really played guard for us - often he was playing PF. But other than that yes I agree. Probably the two Blazers I've been the most upset with us trading away - Norm and Hart.

If a team played Muggsy Bogues at Center, is he a Center? Portland needed Josh to guard bigger players because their roster was a mess post Olshey but that doesn't change who he is or what he's best at. He's a guard and always has been during his professional career. Dude measured just under 6'4 at his combine.

btw... Norman Powell was also listed as a SF quite a bit during his Blazer days

after more than 4 years on the job, 4 trade deadlines, 4 off-seasons, and 4 drafts with 5 first round picks and 5 second round picks, Cronin has built a team that is currently 4 games under .500. When he took over, the Blazers were coming off a 42-30 season....which would be 48-34 adjusted to 82 games. How many years will he need to get the team back to just the 48 win mark?

mid seems to be an appropriate label after all that time and opportunity

Hart is a great rebounder even among forwards, and good defender. He doesn't have the handle or shot creation of a pure guard. It might be semantics but I would classify him as a wing before I called him a guard. He certainly would never be someone I called a PG. Yes he can slide to SG but he can just as easily play forward.
