well we all know frank's thinking... he goes with guys that know the system... i remember last year how everybody was yelling for SWAT and he was stubborn... it was only when swat started showing his freakish abilities that frank gave him quality mins.

so back to the topic.. how many mins. do u guys think lopez, anderson, and cdr are each goin to get? and will frank actually intergrate them?

i certainly hope so

Depends on who else we sign.

He might be forced to play them if he wants to give the starters any rest. Lopez is sure to see some time. CDR is just too much of a winner to keep of the court. And Anderson's shooting touch will be vitally important.

Well if we're rebuilding I would hope all get significant time. It's not like 2006 or 2007 where the team was in "win now" mode. We're looking to the future, and I think it would be extra fustrating to the fans if these three didn't get playing time.

I think it depends less on Frank and more on how these guys perform in practice and whether they can translate their skills against increased opposition while adapting their games to fit the Nets offensive system.

It would make no sense not to play to the rookies, especially Brook Lopez. With that said, next season is going to be much different from last season. Last season, the Nets saw themselves as title contenders more or less, so their might have been more of an excuse not to giving the young guys a go.

Guys like Lopez, Anderson, Roberts could be the future of the Nets, so they should get their share of playing time. And I think everyone, including Coach Frank realizes, the Nets aren't in a position to compete for a title at this stage of the game.

I certainly hope so... cuz i wana see what these rookies can do... and yi included

Frank starts Boone for 53 games in his second season and gives Sean a bunch of starts as a rookie and people still bust his chops as anti rookie.

Face it... Antoine and Marcus aren't good enough. That's not Franks fault.

The rookies will get what they earn. Frank wants to win every game he can and the guys who show they want to be on the floor and produce when they get out there will get burn. I don't believe Frank has any ill will against young players. The faster they wrap their heads around what we need the more PT they're gonna see. We're gonna see all sorts of lineups this season, some will work and plenty others won't. Everyone will get their chance.

Lopez is going to get alot of minutes. At one point if not at the beginning of the season, he will be starting at the 5. CDR is going to see a good amount of minutes as well, simply due to our lack of depth at the 2 and 3. Plus i personally think he's good enough to earn alot of minutes. Anderson probably wont see too many this season or at least until our big man situation is handled with the amount we have. Finally, even though he's not a rookie, i can't wait to see if Swat makes some good progress over the summer and also if he really is bulking up like reported. He's got potential through the roof and i wanna see if we can make him into the enforcer we'v been missing.

Frank is going to start with experience but he will give the young guys a chance.

Although, Hassan Adams never got much love from Frank.

Agreed. After seeing this past season, I'm willing to chill for about a quarter of the season before complaining about rookies not getting enough minutes.

I'm sort of expecting to see him play the experienced players more minutes at first, and rookies spot minutes....and eventually play them more and more as the season progresses. Unless, say, Lopez, Anderson, and Douglas-Roberts severely outplay other players at their positions. Which is entirely possible.

Hassan Adams got plenty of run under Frank.

It's not like any other team has jumped on him.

Adams was another Stefanski hype guy who really has no position in the league.

Actually, Adams got some run in the Raptors' training camp recently. According to an article, which I can dig up if you'd like...he was one of the 3 top players there - right behind Benson and Tamar Slay, actually
and the article said that he performed so well, he was the player they most expected to be on a team roster by the time the season starts.

Think Ghoti was referring to actual NBA games. Cleveland had him in training camp last season too... never made the regular season roster.

I agree... I think Frank feels an obligation to the guys that are playing hard, and know what they're doing, to have other guys around them on the court that play the same way. I can respect that. Who wants to bust their ass trying to win a game and have some idiot screwing it up just because he has "potential"? Earn your time on the court.

There's also a thing called improvement, though...

Hassan Adams started for a stretch.

Exactly... it's not Frank's fault he wasn't a superstar in his rookie season. He gave him a shot.

Hope Hasan finds a place in the league. Unfortunately, when he finally does someone is going to be pissed and blaming Frank.

Frank didn't cut him, though. The front office did.

Yeah, but someone will blame Frank for not giving them a reason not to.

well i hope soo... cuz i cant wait to see what these 3 rookies can do in a game and add to that our 6th pick of 2007 Yi
i hope they blend well... and im seriously believing that a lot of teams are goin to underestimate us with our age... but i bet we can take a lot of teams by surprise... i really hope we make the playoffs... i miss the CAA playoff atmosphere... never got a taste of the IZOD playoff atmosphere yet :/ lets go nets!

hmm i wonder when they are goin to come out with those 10 game or 7 game packages :/ im excited

I agree and I think he brought alot of energy off the bench when allowed to play.

nice nice ... well lets see what kind of offensive and defensive schemes frank draws up... hes prolly watchin video of Yi and the 3 rookies and see how he can use all their strenghts!

he is a tape guru rite? (from what i heard)

Cutting Hassan for Magliore was ridiculous and I always stood behind that but it was clear Frank didn't know what to do with him so it's somewhat of a blessing for Hassan. While Frank did give him a chance I can't wholeheartedly say it was one for him to really capitalize on. He played great coming off the bench with our young second unit but instead of riding that he was catapulted into a starting lineup with a completely different dynamic where he was an ill fit.

Starting him at the 3 was a poor move that ultimately doomed Hassan in Frank's eyes IMO. He was clearly a hustle off the bench type of player but for whatever reason they tried to ride out the starter experiment but the lack of success made it easy to overlook the positive things he did bring of the bench. He never really got off the bench after that and it sucks that they essentially quit using him instead of going back to what he was doing well.

Like I said before I don't think Frank has any bias towards young players but that doesn't mean he always puts them in the right positions to succeed either as sometimes his improvisational lineups can be downright awful. Having a number of options is an Achilles heel of Franks as well and with so many, especially at the bigs, i'm very curious to see how he balances rotations and what kind of a shot he really gives everyone.

Well, fortunately, frank has no choice but to play the young guys because all we have is young guys now!

I think you will see a day 1 starting lineup of:

PG - Harris
SG - Carter
SF - Simmons
PF - Yi
C - Boone

I think your second unit looks something like:

PG - Carter/Marcus williams
SG - Douglass-Roberts
SF - Nachbar(or whatever SF we get if he goes)
PF - Kristic
C - Lopez

I think you will see Anderson start out with like 5 minutes per in garbage duty until he proves himself. then he might fight for some rotation time with kristic.
