Is it me or have fans begun jumping ship?

Welcome to our community

Fans aren't jumping ship ... yet. There was the Duck game, an exciting Boise State game right after, it was a Friday night, Thanksgiving weekend, etc. etc. The roller coaster game threads will be back..

i think this season so far is almost impossible to really get a hold of. thats the problem. even the team isnt sure what they have. thats the issue. i mean we could get the 7th seed or be under 30 wins. theres too many questions about this team. if roy gets better as season goes on.... we make a trade.... who the fuck knows.

True fans go down with the ship. There should be no survivors.

Why does it have to be a ship? Why not a bus that can't slow down or it will explode? Or maybe a train full of chemical waste that's running out of control? Maybe a plane with the engines that have stopped?

It can be a failboat or a fail-road train. Take your pick.

Or the team is Luke Skywalker and we're on the final run to destroy the deathstar. One shot or it's all over.

Does that make the 21 win team Phantom Menace?

Alot of it for me is I have to watch these f-in games online and to keep it on full screen I cant be in another window. Even with my tv active as a dual monitor. But yeah ducks had a lit to do with last night I'm sure too. But yes I'm sure that many "fans" have jumped ship already although I don't necessarily think that's the case here or with many forums where the fans are at least invested enough to talk abou them on a forum in their free time like we are

I've never been one to partake in the game threads all that often. As Wheels said, I also am streaming the games online, so flipping back and forth to post is pointless. But, I agree with an earlier poster in other fans driving me away from here, but not from being a fan. I don't want or expect every post to be a sunshine homer kool-aid drinking post. That's annoying and absurd. But it's not fun as a fan to want to talk about your favorite sports teams with others, and have the other people incessantly whining and complaining about everything. Roy is done, Oden is a bust, nate is an ass-clown. Ok. I've read it 100 times now. Why bother coming back on here to see if someone said it again?

It'll be a tough and trying season for sure. Maybe we lose Nate at the end of it. I wish we would have kept Monty around, personally. To promote him. Not a fan of our current assistants. And I'm actually intrigued at the possibility of a quick and fast "rebuild" or retooling. Curious as to prospects we can get, etc. At the same time, I have not at all given up on this season. I still think we can and will make the playoffs. Even without Roy. I'm excited to watch Batum this season. Excited to watch LMA with more pressure on his shoulders. And to see progression hopefully from Matthews, Cunningham and Johnson.

I see no reason to participate in a forum where you count among the more reasonable members. The team is experiencing significant troubles, and this forum has become a shithole, one of your careful parentage. You should be proud of the environment you've influenced.

Being away from this place has made me a better, calmer, and happier fan; perhaps others have realized the same thing, that your poisonous style (and the similar approaches of others slightly less reviled than you) bleeds into every aspect of thought surrounding the team if one takes this place too seriously.

In short, this place nearly ruined my ability to enjoy the team, and I'm glad to be gone. But I wanted to give you the satisfaction of knowing you've driven people away from this place. You deserve that, because you have worked very hard at it. Congratulations.

A wonderful post. Repped.

Rudy doesn't bother me much, because I know his posting is really a cry for help. That being said, I generally don't involve myself in many posts where the whining, bitching and rendering of garments is occurring, and this place has become the Jerry Springer Show.

I hope you reconsider.

I won't speak for anyone else - but in my mind it has been a 2 edged sword. The hostility of the sunshine pumpers towards the realists reached a fever pitch this summer. I take no joy in being right about this being a trainwreck of a season, but I am angry, even bitter, about the way some people responded to even the most innocuous and obvious comments. (EG the people who ripped me a new one for saying Wiliams was hurt) I felt as if the "excuses-r-us" crowd was turning me against the team.

There is still room here for a happy medium. We can still have rational discussions about how to fix this mess. For some of us, brainstorming how to fix this mess is the only hope we have to cling to! If posters like you leave, we will never find that middle ground.

What's ridiculous is that you call yourself a "realist". You are one of the most persistently negative people in this place. Were you a "realist" when you said we're too young, too inexperienced and not good enough to make the playoffs and then we win 54 games? Were you a realist when the injury bug hit and you bitched and moaned about how our season was done and we should prepare for the lottery, yet we won 50 games?

Your predictions haven't come true; we've been subject to some really shitty luck and you come in to grave dance. You're like a stopped clock--right twice a day. You're certainly no fan of this team.

I've been damn impressed with this team over the past 13 months. I can't think of another NBA club that could have taken the body blows this one has and still remained competitive. I, for one, am proud to be a fan of this team. It's show resolve and character, and you can't ask for more from a franchise.

No offense, but your memory is a little selective. In 08-09, I didn't say the team was too young to make the play-offs, I said they were too young to suceed in the play-offs - which was true. Last season, in the preseason prediction thread, I predicted 50 wins and the 6th seed - look it up if you don't believe me!

Now, if you want to accuse me of being negative about this season - I plead guilty. The team clearly had issues, and they weren't addressed. KP may not have been the superstar some folks saw him as, but he was competent at his job. (unlike the guy he replaced) All the disruption and distraction over his firing caused the team to spend the off-season treading water...and now the team is paying for it.

I have been following this team since year one. I have stayed loyal through many years of BS - and I think I have earned the right to speak my mind without being accused of not being a fan. Most of the time, when people accuse me of being negative, it is because I care about the TEAM first. I have little or no emotional attachement to most of the current players. Be honest....that's what really offends many people.

I've been spending less time posting, but I haven't spent less time following the team. Although I will admit, it's hard sometimes to support a team that can't seem to get out of it's own way at times. Hearing Brandon was given a max contract AFTER knowing about his knee issues, the way the KP situation was handled was bush-league, the Miles letter and several other things are discouraging at best.

I've been a Blazer fan since I was little and I will always follow the team. I think the constant injuries coupled with the impending lockout are too draining for some.

Not much fun to comment on. My 60 win dreams are shattered. I still think they make the playoffs, but I was really looking forward to a championship run.

Camby and Miller, whom I really respect and enjoy watching, seem to be wasted on this team. I almost wish they were on contenders just so I could go back to enjoying watching them.

Somebody needs to get Batum a hard shake and make him realize that his opportunity to be the future of this team is right there for him to take.

I usually use sports as a pick-me-up, a way to make life more interesting. Right now it's much, much more depressing than my own life. So it's hard to watch, and definitely hard to comment on.

The team could be 15-0 right now and I'd still not be all excited and pumped up w/e. It's only November. There are 5 more months left in the regular season. I'm not going to overreact either way right now. The season is too damn long.

Was getting outrebounded by 21 on your home court a surprise? There is losing, and then there is losing without putting out effort. The latter is unacceptable.

Considering The Choad has yet to do anything at all to get us a rebounding backup at any of the C, PF, or SF positions, it was EXPECTED.

We're a tiny team in a game of push and shove.

Personally, Roy's troubles have taken the fun out of this forum for me. For the first time since I've been on these forums, I feel like the future is bleak. Aldridge and Batum just seem to lack heart, Matthews lacks offensive talent and Camby/Miller seem to be wasted on our team. My two favorite players are Roy and Oden- I'm not sure Roy will be Roy again and it stings too much to hear someone be gleeful about this. Oden, i'm not sure will be a Blazer when and if he recovers from the latest injury (though he's only 22 and still has a possible future).

I tend to be one of the more positive posters, though I've never been as prolific a poster as others (because in real life i'm relatively busy), but I don't hit this forum as often because it's not enjoyable recently. I do still watch the Blazers and obsess over any tidbit of news (though busy, i'm never to busy to do this!).

And, actually, for the record, Mixum doesn't annoy me like some of the others, whom i'd rather not name.

It is Thanksgiving weekend. I imagine most people were visiting family and watching football.

Completely agree. This forum has turned into a shit hole & all the bad news that has come the Blazers way is only icing on the cake for all the fuckin trolls around here. I spend more time on the Ducks board & OT than in the Blazers forum. If it wasn't for the activity in those two forums, I wouldn't even visit S2 anymore.

I still follow the Blazers religiously. But my expectations have changed & if we make the playoffs we'll be lucky. We'll still beat up the bottom feeders, but against the top half of the league we're not going to fair too well since Roy's knees are going on 50.

I'd like to see the TV ratings. You have to be a S2 regular/hardcore fan to watch this team.

I don't think the Blazers were ever this boring to watch since the Telfair/Zbo days.

I've been following this team since Game One myself, since my dad took me to see Portland's new NBA team play Cleveland. You can speak your mind, but you can't call yourself a "realist". Also, you're not much of a fan (and I've earned the right to judge). You're just negative. Period.

Posts such as this one do nothing to help out the board. You seem bitter and angry about something. No need to take it out on another poster. I agree with oldmangrouch. Anything poster who wasn't blowing smoke up the Blazers' ass this summer was mocked and vilified, and you were one of the primary offenders.

Shit, how old are you?

Dude, you were like this up until about two weeks ago when we found out about Roy.

What a douchey post. You have no idea what type of fan oldmangrouch is. I think you're a bad fan. You take out your frustrations on fellow fans. Oldmangrouch did nothing to you in the thread, yet you jump on him and call out his fandom.

Huh? I've been pretty reasonable about the team. I take the good with the bad. I don't think you can say I've been overly positive or negative.

I don't know how I missed this gem. This maxiep guy is the bestest fan of all-time! His daddy took him to games (not like that's unique, but whatever). He is judge and jury of who and who is not a Blazer fan!
