Is It Sink or Swim Time for Sharpe?

KingSpeed - I agree with you on that and it is something i have mentioned in the past but i still stand by my post. Since Billups jerks him and Scoot around on minutes for no reason maybe a little more on Sharpe but this is why I said a few months ago IF Billups remained the coach then unless Billups gives Sharpe more time then Sharpe should be at least shopped. I will not lie I still feel that way if Billups cannot give Sharpe the time on the court then he should be traded or he could be wasted .

He’s teetering towards the Jordan Poole/Jalen Green tier of guards — flashy with minimal impact on winning.

This season is huge for Sharpe.
I mean when you throw Jalen Green out there, I'd be fine with that. Dude was the leading scorer on the team with the second best record in the West. I'd say he did impact winning. I would love it if Shaedon was better and more consistent than Green but I wouldn't be too upset if that's where he's at by the end of this upcoming season.

Shaedon Sharpe will average 23-25 points this year if we let him.

I actually agree, Sharpes points come so easy and rarely forces shots. That could change next year as he’ll likely be a number one or two option on offense. If I were him I’d live on the mid range game and going to the hoop. His percentage inside like 3’ is 65% or something like that so teams will want to protect that area. He also needs to get even more creative at drawing fouls, getting 3-5 more throws a game is crucial to becoming a 25 point a game scorer

Sharpe has to show me some fire...he tends to do what Batum used to do and look like the best player on the planet, then disappear for a few games..honestly other than his highlight reel dunks, Kris Murray is closer to being a complete player than Sharpe has been...I hope to see that change this season. He has superstar talent that seems at times to be dipped in THC....Brook asked him what his favorite music was and he said reggae so that is pretty sleepy music for a guy his age. Not exactly beats that pump you up for a game.

Yes.
It is "sink or swim" time for Shaedon Sharpe.
A prove-it year especially on defense. His O needs to see efficient shot-taking (aka, 3's he does better at) along with better handles.
It is -- practically and primarily -- about the D.
IMHO, he has a ceiling that is all star level. His floor is determined by his D.

How much want-to is there in Sharpe in becoming a star player? Is it something he "needs" to do?
If the Blazers believe he has the want-to, and they see the work -- awesome.
If not, trade him ASAP for Dyson Daniels -- double down on the D and a secondary playmaker at SG/SF.

Dude you can make your point without saying ridiculous shit like this. Shaedon has earned the position he has on the team (getting starters minutes) just like Kris has (getting garbage time). Shaedon is worlds better than Kris on offense and even though Kris is the more solid defender it doesn't start to make up for the difference on the other end of the court. SMH.

Murray would not stand out in summer league if he played this it year.

It's a big year for Sharpe, for sure. However, no, it's not sink or swim time. It's sink or swim time for Kris Murray.

He needs to be traded. Hes just not good, and never really has been.

Though I know his trade value is awful too so we are stuck with him.

Dude you can make your point without snarky bs insults too. I think Murray right now is the better player and it’s not because of talent. I think sharpe has superstar talent in short spurts and said as much. Shake your head all you want but fuck the personal insults. I don’t care how you compare them. You do you..I'm not the topic here.

There's not one personal insult in my reply to your post and if you think Kris is better than Shaedon... I really don't know what to tell you. That's ridiculous.

Another uninformed take. Keep on blabbing on and on about the things you "know" without watching anything. When Shaedon is an all star maybe then you'll... never mind you'll never allow yourself to enjoy anything about our team.

More senselessly negative than @AldoTrapani

Personally I want all our players to make a leap but there's a big difference between Superstar talent and consistent production in the NBA. From what I've seen so far, Scoot is putting in the work and making the most progress ..I think Scoot can become a star and I think he has the motor and work ethic to follow that through. I really hope Sharpe becomes a two way player and better 3 pt shooter. Murray is a 3pt shot away from being a solid role player. I hope he breaks that slump this off season. All our young guys need to shoot a ton of free throws...we've sucked at the line. I'm really happy with the direction of the team. Stoked..

Just a troll of a poster. Apparently per posters here he has a bunch of personal stuff going on in his life but I don't see why that justifies him trolling the entire forum along with a mod badge that nobody can set to ignore.

sink or swim....put up or shut up....now or never

3 years into his career and he's still wildly inconsistent. But the excuses for that inconsistency are wearing out

Clearly, he had a bad mesh with Simons. It just didn't work. This last season the Simons/Sharpe two-man combo was the 4th worst on the team. But the Scoot/Sharpe 2-man combo was the 4th best. Scoot/Sharpe were 9.5 points better (per 100 poss) than Simons/Sharpe

but Simons is gone now, removing that obstacle/excuse. And logically, you'd probably assume that Jrue's ability to set up teammates is elite compared to Simons (but maybe it's not good to assume Sharpe will be the default SG?)

I've noted this before, and it was a tiny sample size, but at the end of the season when Simons was out and Deni/Sharpe were given the keys to machine, Sharpe averaged 29-7-5. Pretty impressive....except for one factor: his efficiency. It still wasn't where it needs to be. Not close. But his problems with efficiency are welded to his poor 3 point shooting. Inside the arc and at the rim, he was very good. Problem was he took 43% of his shots behind the arc and he was bad at it

personally, I think he needs to pattern his offense more like Demar Derozan or Devin Booker. Stop settling for so many three's and instead attack the mid-range and the rim. Hopefully he's working on his handles this summer

I'm sure he wants an extension this summer; and he's only a year away for a 2nd contract. But has he really earned that extension yet? I'm not sure
What do you mean? I was told everything's great. He has all of the athleticism and talent in the world. He just averaged 18 ppg.

There are no confidence issues or anything like that... same with Scoot.

Everything is going perfect.

Sharpe’s scoring went up last season despite fewer minutes. I mean what are we talking about here? Give him the starting SG spot and watch him become the next Tracy McGrady.

You keep beating this like a drum. I’m a big Sharpe fan but the whole “less minutes” take isn’t that compelling as he did shoot more last year while having a lower percentage from 3. His overall percentage from his second season was abysmal but his percentage from 3 this past season was his worst. He put up more shots in less minutes. A change in efficiency is what you want. Ideally, those numbers would at least go back up to what we saw his rookie season.

Speaking of swimming, why are they called swim trunks when they're shorts?

My mother is on her deathbed and keeps lying to the doctor. She has requested me to not visit her in her end days because i tell the doctors the truth. Weighing heavier that shit on me right now, but I'm not trying to take it out on everyone around me…..
