21 minutes? Literally no excuse for this horseshit.
Cause his coach is causing him to lose confidence in himselfHe was terrible in those minutes. He turned the ball over about the first five times he got it.
So did Ant and Grantyeah but he played like horseshit
Young players will do that. Get these guys minutes. He was terrible in those minutes. He turned the ball over about the first five times he got it.
11 points in 21 minutes? That's not bad...Sharpe is a bust, let’s face it. He’s had enough time to get up to speed in his third year in the NBA, and yet in a game against the Lakers when he was really needed he could only come up with 11 points? What a joke. He’s a lazy player with no killer instinct who probably isn’t smart enough or motivated enough to be a star.
If he is then that's progress. I don't think a coach has had ANY effect on Sharpe previously.Cause his coach is causing him to lose confidence in himself
totally agree, Chauncy coaching choices are often horseshit as well, bench Shae for bad defense and let Simons romp for 4 years while one of the worst defenders in the league? What kind of message does that send?So did Ant and Grant

But what has happened to Scoot Henderson?
According one person above, "He accepted the coaching and things clicked and he took off."
Yet Scoot Henderson's playing time lately has GONE DOWN. His average for the last 6 games (24.5) is below his season average (26.5) by 2 minutes.
Also, Scoot's season average for 2024-25 (26.5) is LOWER than his season average for 2023-24 (28.5) by 2 minutes.
Scoot started 32 games last season, but only 9 games this season.
What is going on here? You're the #3 pick, and if you accept the coaching and take off, you get fewer minutes and starts?

Toward the end of Sharpe’s rookie year, I talked to his trainer, Francis Kiapway, and asked him about the questions—which two years later still linger—around Sharpe’s enigmatic personality and motivating forces.
“That’s what I think [the coaches are] kind of asking in terms of, yo, what is it that’s gonna make him go crazy?…What I do is, I challenge him. And I don’t give a fuck. And I let him know that,” Kiapway said.
“That’s where you’re gonna see the alter ego come out—when you challenge him. And you don’t disrespect him…but he feels like you’re disrespecting him. I do that from the jump of the workout. And as he continues to hear your voice in terms of that, that’s where he gives you his best reps.”
When Kiapway was young, he used to let a skinny kid who’d been cut from his high school team’s varsity named Shai Gilgeous-Alexander tag along with him to his 5 am workouts. “I kind of was showing him how to work,” he told me. “If Shaedon had Shai’s work ethic naturally, it would be a different story. That’s why I’m here, to kind of put that in him.”
he also had a team high 4 TOs in those 21 minutes. I've zero issues with any coach responding to poor play from a young player with fewer minutes11 points in 21 minutes? That's not bad...

Young players are going to make mistakes. You address those issues in the film room and walking through other options in practice.he also had a team high 4 TOs in those 21 minutes. I've zero issues with any coach responding to poor play from a young player with fewer minutes

That was a terrible pass right into the chest of Austin Reaves who then had a layup. The next time down the court he literally kicked the ball while dribbling. Here's hoping his struggles are unacceptable to him lighting a fire to work on his weaknesses and the basis for future success.I think he turned it over the first two times he touched the ball. The first was a lazy no-look pass he threw right into the hands of a defender.
Nonsense. Young players improve all the time despite not getting big minutes in every single game. They improve in practice, they improve working on their skills in drills with trainers (Sharpe really needs to improve his handle) & they naturally fill out into their bodies and get stronger & more coordinated. Lessons they learn & work they put in today don't necessarily pay off immediately, it often takes some time. You dont get better by sitting on the bench and/or garbage time.

I would wager players would say they learn the most by playing minutes that matter.Nonsense. Young players improve all the time despite not getting big minutes in every single game. Even if your point held water, it would be undermined by the fact that Shaedon is averaging 30 MPG for the season. He's definitely struggling though which lots of young guys do on their way to figuring things out... here's hoping

I would wager motivated rather then entitled players learn the most and thats best instilled early on. Especially for young guys, minutes should be earned not just for the benefit of an individual player's development, but for the benefit of the team's culture.I would wager players would say they learn the most by playing minutes that matter.
People forget that Jermaine got his chance and whiffed on it. He was rumored to be great in practice, but every time he got minutes (including starters minutes because of injuries) he shat the bed. Not saying it wasn't a bad trade (shoulda let Grant go instead of sign-and-trading him for Kemp, two cases where Trader Bob did too much) but (a) we had Rasheed and Brian Grant, and (b) Jermaine obviously needed to go to a team where he was anointed the next Jesus but a GM who'd staked his rep on him.Jermaine O'Neal says hi

Almost like players tend not to "look" as good when they have a short leash... Hmmm ...I don't believe that's true

there aren't really any significant differences in production rates and efficiency between Portland and Indiana. The only significant difference is he averaged 11.5 minutes in 4 seasons in Portland and 35 minutes in his first 2 seasons in Indiana

it’s very true, not sure why you trying to debunk that. Brian Grant went down for a good chunk of games the second half of the season, and O’Neal didn’t do much in his time playing extra mins for that whole stretch really.I don't believe that's true

It was a pretty small chunk of that season; Grant missed 9 games between March 6th and 26th. Even during that stretch, JO got over 20 minutes just 3 times. The game before Grant's return , O'Neal played 31 minutes (his only 30 minute game that season), putting up 12/10 with 5 blocks. After that standout performance, he was relegated to 15 mpg the rest of the season. He was never given anything close to "starter's minutes".it’s very true, not sure why you trying to debunk that.
