Confidence goes both ways. There were times that year when he looked promising, and there were times when he struggled big time. I mean, embarrassingly bad. Which is pretty typical for a rookie who is thrown into a role without being ready.
Starting him and playing him 30+ minutes that year may have helped, or it could have destroyed his confidence when he was playing badly. Bottom line is Chauncey did a pretty good job IMO bringing him along. Ant had nothing to do with it whatsoever.
