Is the good he brings to the team worth all the bad he does too? He again, looked so confused out on the court last night like he usually does. He causes so many errors on the floor with his terrible basketball IQ. Is he worth it? Would we rather have someone who has higher basketball IQ? I think so. We can't have a moron on the team.

my favorite part was when we were up 6....and outlaw cut the lead to 5 in 15 seconds

He's a 50/50 player...scary, I'd rather have Webster....
In the last three seasons, I haven't really seen Outlaw change his play style........
I think he needs to go to a better coaching camp, or something...

Outlaw is not worth it IMO. It's too bad because games like last night show how effective he can be if he would do that every night. Attack the basket and rebound. That's it.

If we only had to play him 15 minutes a night, I'd be fine. But he's too much of a liability at the 27 minutes he's getting now. There's just too much opportunity for his defense to get exposed in that much time.

But half the time he doesn't drive, and that's when I "white knuckle" it because you never know if his dribble, stop, spin, turn around jumper is going to go in...

I agree. Play him a good 15 minutes a game like Batum gets.

When Outlaw has the ball, I'm a nervous wreck . . .

17 points, 4 boards, 1 turnover, 1 assist, flying all over the court and playing a key role in beating the Celtics w/out Roy, and still the guy gets criticized.

This "basketball IQ" hogwash is the most subjective BS I've seen consistently posted on these boards. Just enjoy the win (or post your real names, so I can criticize you and your job after you are a part of a big success).

Don't your FBI Friends have my name already? Among many others on here? :)

On a serious note, I'm not saying he's a terrible guy, just streaky and absent minded sometimes when it comes down to the wire....

His fourth quarter early shot clock brick, was a bad decision, luckily it didn't hurt us, but it could have, and that's the issue, poor judgment by a 6th year man.

Yes. Martell Webster. Supposedly Martell had vastly improved his game over the summer. Then the nagging foot injury. I question if Martell will be able to come back in top form this year. Certainly it will take him a while to round into mid-season conditioning and effectiveness. I'm really starting to miss Martell on this team.

sure he's worth it... besides being an effective player who helps my favorite team win games, the fact that he pisses off the glass half full of piss posters here is endearing. You know those posters... they're smarter then the Blazer coach who plays him so much, the GM who praises him, and the statisticians that show him to be a quality player... those guys are morons too. Coach after coach is an moron and every season brings a new scapegoat.

Another nice game by Travis last night in another win... and true to form the :ohno: are out in force crying. It's like the sun coming up in the East.

Come on STOMP, you can't deny the fact that Outlaw makes some pretty boneheaded moves. More so then the rest of the 6th+ year guys, hell more then some of the younger guys...

Discussing a particular player's effectiveness <> sky is falling arguments. You miss the point entirely of this thread.

TO giveth and TO taketh away. He'll help win you a game like last night and help you get beat by the Mavs the previous game. TO has some strengths, but consistency isn't one of them.

One of his best games of the season last night. Outlaw can be spectacular when he's a featured player, because his go-to moves are pretty hard to stop. Problem is that he's not consistently spectacular, and he's not normally a featured player. On a team missing Roy, I liked knowing he was out there because he could do a lot of the same shot creation Roy excels at. But when Roy's playing, you don't really need that aspect and Outlaw's other weaknesses outweigh his advantages.

Surecock. Basketball IQ is very important.

I'm just trying to find out where in the statistics I can see a player's basketball IQ.

Or perhaps you don't know what subjective means?

Outlaw average 1 turnover a game, a perfectly acceptable number for a guy who is asked to create his own shot at times.

"Boneheaded" = an opinion.

how am I denying anything regarding Travis when my post was about the daily whiners doing their thing? Of course he makes mistakes and doesn't do everything perfect... he's also playing the best ball of his career making significant contributions to the best club he's been on. But has anyone mentioned his many positives here... could it be that those are being denied by the :ohno: set?

Yeah your right. He NEVER makes any mistakes does he? What the fuck was I thinking? He is better then LeBron. Fuck me in the ass for thinking Outlaw ever made a mistake. Because he never has, and you just proved everyone wrong.

Sure is, but so is the majority of the posts about all of our players.

Show me consistency with Outlaw...in his decision making on the court, specially for being a 6th year man.
I don't think you can. His game is always so Up and down. That's the main gripe...

Yeah, because you can track basketball IQ on a stat sheet, huh?

Deleted.

Outside of Roy, that can be said about every player on the roster. Odd that you and others consistently pound a bench player for being like every other player on the team outside of the All-Star.

The "main gripe", if that what it is, seems way out of scale with the number of negative threads here relative to other players on the roster.

LMAO

Derrrrrr

Thank you for also proving my point about the subjectivity of "basketball IQ". Outlaw is consistently in at the end of wins decided by 5 points or less.

To me, this means he has a high basketball IQ. He helps his team win close games.

I could probably say that about every other player on the roster, but the majority of players don't have the years that Outlaw does. For his length of being in the NBA, he shouldn't be still displaying the same stuff he has been since coming onto the team.

I'm not saying hes a bad player, I'm more along the lines of, "id rather have martell in there". Much better on defense and I feel is more comfortable in the fourth quarter.

Wow so you base basketball IQ on if a player is in the game at the end of the 4th quarter? I cannot let myself read your posts anymore. Your making my IQ go down by reading your inane drivel. Join Mixim on my block list.

Exactly. Not a bad player, but not one that you want to rely on for consistent scoring and defense in the 4th quarter of a tight game.

I do hope that he goes to the rim more often like he did last night. If he can mix in more inside putbacks and dunks, then slack shall be cut for his defensive lapses.

When did Martell become so comfortable in the 4th quarter? Travis was on the floor in the 4th last year and Martell was usually on the bench.
