Blazers have received;

2024 GSW pick top 4 protected
2029 MIL pick unprotected
2029 BOS pick unprotected
2028 MIL swap unprotected
2030 MIL swap unprotected
DeAndre Ayton
Robert Williams
Malcolm Brogdon
Toumani Carara
-Nurk -NAS -Keon

It's solid. About as good as I could've hoped for. I don't know about "haul" though. What constitutes a haul?

Would have liked another pick or some more guarantees of our picks being good, but that's the risk I suppose. This can turn out freaking amazing in 28/29/30 but that's a long ways away. This can also turn into a situation where we get 3 very late first rounders in crappy drafts.

Think we're conditioned to think of anything better than Herro + 2 firsts as good, so in that sense, yes.

This is about on par with what Utah got for Donovan, but those picks are from Cleveland while ours are from GS/MIL/BOS. We were never going to get the Gobert package in this market with the new CBA in place, so this is good.

It's a haul and I honestly think it will get bigger because I see about as much of a place on this roster for Brogdon as I did for Jrue. That is unless the team has some killer deal they're working on with Ant going elsewhere.

okay yet Phoenix wanted him and we wouldn't have got Ayton without him to give up so in the context of the thread, its vey relevant.
I think phx wanted to get out of the 4 max players hell first, add bodies to a thin roster second and get a vet center that will accept that he is a 4th or 5th wheel 3rd. The fact that he is big enough to make jokic expand some energy is a plus. They didn't trade for Nurk first, they traded for money, roster depth and staying under the 2nd apron. Luckily for Portland, Nurk fit in these parameters.

I have no issue with documenting it as part of the trade, but it was immaterial as far as judging the return for Dame, imho

Something to consider…

Is Joe building a war chest in case a star becomes available?

I don’t mean Embiid or another aging star. I mean someone down the road like Luka.

Where is Nas and keons value at?

All im saying is if we are going to list it, list it, Because money is on the books and it matters.

He certainly seems to have a wide horizon for vision. Seems he will make moves to open up the ability to pounce on whatever opportunity arises he deems worthy.

As I said, document whatever, does not matter for a board discussion, IMHO, but I don't object to it.

Little value is name appropriate (not large), keon, was 0 probably.
Keon value is clearly less than 0 since he has a guaranteed contract and Phoenix is cutting him.

Blazers wanted Phoenix to eat that cost to give them tax/roster room.

If we trade Brogdon + 2 2nds to PHI, we could get something back like filler + the ‘28 unprotected 1st (we re-route Harden to the Clips).

So if the total return was
DA
TimeLord
Camara
‘24 GSW 1-4 protected 1st
‘28 LAC 1st, ‘28 POR/MIL swap
‘29 BOS 1st, ‘29 MIL 1st
‘30 POR/MIL swap
Filler

I would say that’s a haul, as much as I could expect. 4 1sts (3 unprotected) and 2 unprotected swaps would make me as happy as I can be as a Blazers fan the last few years. Let’s just take our time on TimeLord, he has an easily moveable contract for the next 3 years. Is DA and TimeLord on the level of Cam or Bridges? No. But KD is significantly better than Dame.

The end result of the Brogdon deal is still ongoing. Neither of the Miami young guys were intriguing enough for me to consider them as an asset over a 1st. I don’t think either will end up with a better career than Grant, and if the end goal is improvement at a position via trade or draft, I’d take a 1st over Jaquez or Jovic. But if the Blazers could get a JSJ or Eason from the Rockets, then that’d be great.

Luka probably wouldn’t be the player, but I think you’re in the ballpark of the type of star he could get. Maybe Tatum if he doesn’t think he can win it in Boston. The big one would be Scottie, still. If he gets unhappy with the Raptors, we would have the means to compete with the Jazz, Rockets, Thunder, and Nets for him. Outside of that, we don’t know the guys who will end up as stars in 2026 and beyond.

it's quite a bit better than I thought Portland would get, but I wouldn't call it a haul

What Utah got for Rudy Gobert is a “haul”, so no, I wouldn’t consider this a “haul”.

I would say it’s better than anticipated on my end though; so I have to give Joe credit for that with a few caveats.

1) I wasn’t super high on post-injury Nurk (the player). I’m also not super high on Ayton, especially at his salary. So, we will have to see how the cookie crumbles here.

2) I was pretty much over “Nas” because of his injury concerns. Robert Williams is essentially the same thing. Can’t stay healthy. HOWEVER, Robert Williams has proven when healthy, he can actually impact a game. Nas didn’t ever show me that on a significant level.

3) I’m not banking on the 24 GSW pick or 2029 BOS pick being worth very much. A lot will be dictated by the MIL’s future.
