Dame trade return a haul?

I'm not opposed to it, but where does he play the probable starter minutes he's going to want? Or is he our PG off the bench? Can he swing to the 2? Sorry, I don't follow Lonzo that much.
He's out for the year. So gives Portland time to move Simons and then Lonzo could be intriguing as a 3rd guard that wouldn't be over relied upon. Or if he doesn't get healthy, would be an expiring contract next off-season. Would allow Portland to prioritize their young guards this year while also solving the pick problem.

Man wtf that Chicago pick lasts for thousands of years, we need to get out of that. Not next year, but soonish.

depends. If the cost of getting that first back is another first, there's no reason to make that trade. I don't think there's a rush in any event. it's pretty unlikely the Blazers will be out of the lottery in the next 2-3 years

the biggest issue, and it's a ways down the road, is that the dumb-ass encumbrance Olshey left on that pick runs thru 2028. And it's 2028 that the Blazers have an unprotected swap with Milwaukee
******************************

you know what really sucks about that trade, besides the encumbrance?

that's right, it was a 3 team trade and Olshey could have traded for Markkanen...but chose Nance instead. Geeeeezuuzzz....he was such a shitty GM and he shitty in Portland for a fucking decade

Would have liked another pick or some more guarantees of our picks being good, but that's the risk I suppose. This can turn out freaking amazing in 28/29/30 but that's a long ways away. This can also turn into a situation where we get 3 very late first rounders in crappy drafts.
I'll remind you of how Portland acquired Jeremi Grant... by trading a future 1st they'd acquired (2024 Bucks) which was then turned around and traded again by the Pistons for the rights to draft Jalen Duren. Future unprotected 1st round picks are liquid gold around the trade times

Wait so if they somehow get a top 4 pick in 2024 it becomes top 1 protected the next year? They gonna start sucking here soon so that's a nice little pickup even more.
Vegas currently has the W's something like the #6 overall most likely to win a title this upcoming season. But of course they are an older team & when older guys get injured they tend to stay injured so the wheels could always fall off. I'm guessing they'll have a pretty good year and Portland will land an extra late 1st in whats thought to be a poor draft.

I made that comment because of the kickbacks to the following 2 years (25, 26). That's why I said it. Since it gets less protected the 2nd year and unprotected the 3rd.

haul noun [C] (AMOUNT)
• a usually large amount of something that has been stolen or is illegal

I was lead to believe that Dame was only worth a solid bench player, some young scrubs, and a couple marginal picks.

To me, this looks like a HAUL. So far, similar to what a far younger star, with a smaller contract and no demands commanded in a less restrictive cap environment.

I'm voting yes. Cronin pillaged the league for max value. And he's still likely to get more.

I dunno where to put this but I love it and honestly I kinda hope he does this when he returns with Milwaukee this year.

Would be very classy, I expect they turn the lights off and yes he does that Jan31! Just hope Dame isn't banged up or something that day.

That was actually a protected pick as well, top4 NOP would keep it. Yes Blazers having 4 years of unprotected draft equity plus top4 protected Golden State this year along with 3 good vets is a VERY impressive haul - especially for a 33 year old 200+ million contract no defense small guard.

that's probably too pessimistic. They'd be in the lottery though and probably in the bottom 10
The thing now with the playin is the Blazers could be a bottom 3 team in the west but only a few games within the playin as late as March. Ayton TimeLord Grant Thybulle Ant maybe Brogdon gives the Blazers some solid vets so obviously they won't be good but we've seen many surprising teams with much less flirt with .500. Would be nice to have the young guys playing "meaningful" games well into the season.

My only concern is that those picks in 2028-2030 may not mean anything if the world ends. I could see a zombie outbreak or alien invasion happening before we are able to use them.

They mention Rob Williams becoming valuable to other teams. Could he be traded?

Blazers can get assets for both Brodgon and Williams.

By the way, for those people who consider the Dame trade and Nurkic/Ayton trade to be 2 separate trades, the guy who went from Milwaukee to Phoenix played the 4th most MPG for a 58-win team. He's a 40% 3-point shooter who had a True Shooting % of over 60 percent his last two seasons.

That 3-point shooting by Allen would be less needed because of Dame joining the Bucks. And I'm sure quite valuable to Phoenix as a depth piece (along with Nurk and Nas) in exchange for Ayton.

So when you look across all of media and all of the outlets that like to discredit this organization, what are they saying? They're not arguing if it's a haul but just how big of a haul it will be when all is said and done. That tells me that without the context of Miami or nothing from Dame, Joe made a trade that people think objectively without context is a haul for Dame. I agree and it's nice to see what I see as that reality validated by many many so called experts.

I think they should trade both of them. I like Williams but his injury history is a major concern.

I have listened to every decent national podcast I can get my hands on and the general consensus is that Joe got more than anyone thought he could. He did a really good job.
