A fan, no, I don't have any Sharpton Jersey's.
But I do think that the majority of the issues they bring to our attention are relevant and should be looked at. There is racism and it needs to be addressed. I do think they sometimes go overboard, having spent so much of their lives on that singular issue, they sometimes see race playing an issue where it didn't, or think someones motivations were racially based when they weren't. Sharpton and Jackson do play an important roll in society, and the that's important. Just because not every issue they focus on is clear cut racism does not mean they are some bad people attacking the good folk of our nation. They are not part of the court of law, they are public figures exercising their freedom of speech, who have been working diligently towards the eradication of racism in America. And I might add that the grand reduction in racism in America is in no small part due to the activists over the years who have continually tried to focus the American consciousness on this scourge.
It's our duty to look at each issue as it comes up and use our own judgement. No reason to enter with bias from either side, immediately certain that it's racially based or not racially based. And all this pointing the other direction, hey look a white guy was wronged by a black, is just rude and makes you guys look hateful. Sometimes there will be "reverse racism" and it will be evident. But don't do exactly what you seem angry at Sharpton/Jackson at doing, coming to racial conclusions far sooner than is warranted just to get those black folk back for thinking things are racially based. That's horseshit.
