I think, honestly that a lot of the issue is the media, as well as protesters....at least for me.

When a black person is killed by a white cop, that is what seems to be plastered all over the headlines. Obama speaks out against it and protesters riot and loot.

However, as in the case of the Harris county sheriff, no headlines anout the black man killing the white cop, crickets from the white house and no white people rioting or looting.

Is it the double standard some people are so angry about? I probably am for that reason.

I agree wholeheartedly. But you have to understand why there is no rioting or looting. The black man killing the white cop is in custody. He is being tried for murder. If he were not charged that would be a different story. As for Obama not speaking out about it (your insinuation). You need to keep up bro:

Im not sure ive seen every protester waiting for justice before adding a new tv to their game room.

Thanks for the link

So this was a statement and not a tv appearance?

So look! We agree on 90% of what BLM wants. How hard was that?

This is all we want people. I'm not a part of BLM but I would protest nonviolently (ala MLK) with regard to police reform in this country. These simple reforms would help us all. People talk about the constitution but our 4th and 1st amendment rights have been trampled on. Remember the police pepper spraying the kids at UC Davis? They were peaceably assembled, redressing the government for their grievances and were sprayed with mace for exercising their 1st amendment rights.

Don't we want to put a stop to this? Are any of the proposals above targeted to help a specific demographic of people or will they help us ALL avoid police brutality and overreach?
My beef with BLM has more to do with controlling the extreme groups waving their flag. I know they don't particularly represent the group, but they are connected. The BLM group could easily diffuse the situation by publicly stating "We do not condone this behavior. They do not represent our goals. We are not them!" This would be much like current Christian groups publicly saying WBB or the KKK does not represent the general belief of our group.

They haven't, and they are actually using this negative press to further push their views. This is what is disturbing

The times where you've rioting, the officer or that asshole murderer George Zimmerman, aren't arrested, jailed or held accountable for killing unarmed Black people. I'm not condoning ANY looting or rioting, but let's not act like White people don't riot over football games and fucking Pumpkin Festivals... Just like the Rodney King riots. The officers, The bottom line is the rioting happened (unjustifiably because they tore down their own fucking neighborhoods) because those officers were fucking acquitted for what we ALL SAW on that video.

There has been lots of headlines and attention on the news.

MM the news has been PLASTERED with this. The friggin chief even blamed BLM for this killing that was caused by a man with mental illness... It's all over the news. Go turn on CNN right this moment and you'll see something in less that 5 min.

I havent seen the same headlines in this case as I seem to have seen if it were reversed, like in so many others Maybe I'm looking too hard to see something thats not there?

Hell go turn on fox and they will have a 24 hour cycle on this subject alone.

But this truly isn't a race issue as much of this being a "police issue". I've seen first hand where cops have abused my rights and the rights of all colors where I live. I think this has more to do with the "cowboy mentality" of a select bad apples.

Has Obama held a press conference like he did with the Mike Brown type cases?

Hell go turn on fox and they will have a 24 hour cycle on this subject alone.

I guess im looking at when it happened. It was a cop killed by a dark comected man in a ford Ranger

It cant be just me who sees shock grabbing headlines when it's reversed

Wait, so you're saying that even though you live in Texas you haven't seen any headlines about a Texas police officer being shot?

*cough...bullshit...cough*

Thats actually not at all what I am saying

If you want the same number of headlines as the Mike Brown incident maybe you should get out there and do a little rioting to create those headlines.

This is a serious question....

How would America handle mass rioting from white folks on the very same issues? Would they be treated like the KKK?

If you aren't looking for it you'll never find it. This is from their facebook:

A statement from our movement:

The events of this weekend are tragic.

"We renew our condolences to the families and friends of those injured and killed this weekend. As those who stand with the victims of police violence, we know all too well the deep sense of loss that a community feels when they lose a loved one. They are in our thoughts and prayers as we continue our movement for justice.

"This is not a time for political grandstanding and punditry. Unfortunately, we continue to see elected officials and police leadership twist this tragedy into an opportunity for them to silence the cries for justice from families who have lost their loved ones to police violence. Our families matter, too.

"Those exercising their First Amendment rights to secure a justice system that works for ALL are being thrown under the bus by police departments and their union leaders who want to skirt their responsibility to our communities.

"This weekend, Patrick Lynch used his role as the President of the largest police union in New York to essentially declare war on Black communities. This is unacceptable and should be condemned. Under his leadership, the police union has resisted nearly every positive criminal justice reform— including the end of discriminatory stop and frisk practices, protecting the Miranda rights of those arrested, and inviting community input in the creation of policies that govern the police.

"Commissioner Bratton must also immediately end his shameful attempts to use the deaths of these officers to attack democracy by advancing unfounded claims to connect this tragedy to protests. A troubled young man who began his day by attempting to kill his ex-partner, shot two officers and then killed himself has nothing to do with a broad non-violent movement for change. The NYPD is conveniently ignoring the facts surrounding this tragedy in order to score cheap political points.

"Commissioner Bratton and Patrick Lynch must immediately apologize to New Yorkers who desperately want change in the city. Mayor DeBlasio and other elected officials should condemn these opportunistic distractions that attempt to avoid meaningful reform.

"A concerted attempt to defame the millions who have acted on behalf of those lost to police violence proves that the NYPD leadership has no intention of creating any trust between this department and the communities they purport to serve.

"Our communities are in crisis. We've responded by meeting in our homes, offices, and schools— and walking out of them, with our hands up. Thousands of others have organized small actions that when woven together have tremendous impact. The problem isn't the diverse voices that participate in dissent, a cornerstone of our democracy.

"The problem is a discriminatory pattern of police violence that continues unabated and that police brass don't care to stop it.

"This movement was sparked by the grief that millions across the country have felt. Joining Eric Garner, Mike Brown and Tamir Rice are the thousands of lives lost in the last decade to police shootings. We are in the streets because we are fighting for the right to live our lives fully and with dignity, without the threat of unconstitutional police violence and repression.

"Our work continues and we invite those who stand on the side of justice to join us."

Do the headlines or the rioting come first?

I am asking honest questions here. Not trying to be a smartass

A man who wad deemed stable

No he was deemed not competent to stand trial and we will see what happens here. They will nail him to the wall.
He needs to be locked away. Whether that's in a mental institution or a prison he needs to go away.

SEE!!!!

They had a great start, then they used the negative press to promote their goals.

6 months later he was found competent, sent back for trial, but the case was dropped cause they couldnt find the victim.

This is a serious question....

How would America handle mass rioting from white folks on the very same issues? Would they be treated like the KKK?

Is there a city where the police force is 95% black and the population is 67% white?

Is there a city where the population is 67% white and yet make up 85% of the arrests?

If there was a city like that and those white people rioted I think many would be calling them heroes, and by many I mean Fox News.

If there had been no rioting or public outrage over the Mike Brown shooting then the Texas cop would have received far more attention from the national media.

Im not sure what that means

A cop getting shot is going to make the national news versus a person. The two different incidents in Louisiana last week both made the national news. It's the riots and protests that drew public's attention in the Mike Brown case, not the actual shooting.

yes. In this hypothetical experiment...

But I guess we can use Baltimore as a close example...

"Here’s what the data shows about the racial makeup of Baltimore’s finest:

* Of the 2,745 active duty police officers in the department — 1,445 — more than half are African-American, Hispanic, Asian or Native American, according to data provided by the Baltimore police department to The Daily Caller News Foundation."

That's 53% minority active duty
