I'm not grading your paper...giving it an incomplete..it's a matter of perspective how you define racial slander and its cause and effect. I've lived all over and seen racist behavior from every ethnic background. Ask yourself this: how were they able to move past all this and become white people? They were able to do that because no one was called white back then. The term white and black are constructs in American society. In reality Italians as well as Irish did receive white privilege. What was it you might ask? They were able to integrate into society because of the tone of their skin. Black people do not have that luxury. Why are Irish people not hated on now? Because they are white that's why.

America has become a melting pot. As for the Irish, my forefathers hated each other for religious differences. My grandmother was Lakota Sioux. She preferred to just be called American.
