Of course it does. Last year we passed measure 26-141, which made antifa the official city police force effective July 1. This is normal.

Were those videos made on the one day of demonstrations, or is that everyday?

It's not like that everyday - usually when antifa stops a car downtown, crazed homeless people will rob and kill the driver. Not sure why that didn't happen in this video.

Just curious what the point of directing traffic is? Are they literally trying to bait people into attacking them so they can claim they were attacked by a racist? In their mind does it make you a fascist or a racist if you don't want to follow their traffic controls? Are they just trying to demonstrate how much power and authority they think they have?

If it's during the day they held the demonstrations, maybe they're trying to keep cars out of the block they're demonstrating on. So they can have the demonstration.

Usually, police would clear out traffic, but in the age of Republican privatization, it saves the government money to have the demonstrators do the traffic control. Our thrift enables bigger tax cuts for the rich, a laudable endeavor.

I don't think that it's everyday, and that it's played up by the media for various reasons. For instance, from a friend of mine in DC...
So an interesting afternoon. After (his daughter)’s soccer game this (Sunday) morning in Fairfax, she and I decided to hit DC and see what’s happening with the protests.
So we parked over by the Senate building and did a walking tour around the Capitol back to the Supreme Court Building and then down Pennsylvania Ave to the White House, checking out the FBI building and Trump International along the way. From there over to the Washington Monument and then back up the mall to the Capitol and back to the car.
Sad to announce that in hitting all those spots, we found a grand total of two very passive protesters in front of the SC. No yelling or screaming. Just holding signs. Capitol? Nothing. FBI Building? Nothing. Trump International? Nothing. Washington Monument? Nothing. The Mall? Nothing. We did find some signs from yesterday I’m guessing.
Street vendor by SC said there were prob 2000 protesters on Saturday and he had a great day for business.

I've noticed a similar sort of effect in sports. For example, the day after a Blazer game, there aren't any fans in the arena or anywhere near the Moda Center. Hard to understand why that is.

For those who haven't been there...Those spots, even when closed, have thousands of tourists and 10,000 government employees walking home on the sidewalks. People holding signs blend right into the crowd. Tourists take pictures of signholders from 2 feet away. Washington, D.C. is crowded with walking traffic.

Not so on this day...

The second picture and the last one would usually have a lot more people, especially in late afternoon or early evening, in summer or fall. It can be a pretty cool place for nice people, at the right time.

Seems like you're right on this one. Other people have said that, contrary to what the news had been reporting (about the Friday protests going on through the weekend), Sarsour's at least said it was only Saturday buses left Saturday night. NYC and Boston had Sunday rallies.

Nobody deserves to get run over.

Ha, well the guy I ran over maybe didn't deserve it or maybe he did for being a drunk idiot, but after he took me to court and lost my insurance company took him to court and he had to pay for the damages to my car. :bgrin:

If they were simply directing cars away from their demonstration then fine. Explain that to the cars in a civil manner. They lose any respect from me when they try to start fights with innocent people just trying to figure out where to go.

How could anyone argue with this.

I moved because eventually I would knock one of these guys out and I would get killed.

At the end of the video the guy hits the truck in the back and the lady directing traffic even said.. "oooohh., dammit". They KNOW what they are doing is wrong and they still do it!!!!

I want to ask the mayor who I send my bill to cause my time is expensive. I swear if I truly ever get caught up in something like that and lose serious time,. I will be on the mayors doorstep asking him where to send the invoice to.

When is enough enough and we are allowed to take back our streets??????

And for anyone who wants to say protesting is legal, I'm all for protesting. But there are good ways and bad ways. Anyone who thinks this is a good way is living in a bubble....

I'd probably attack one of them if I didn't just run one over. So glad I don't live there.

Can't even dox them and get them fired from the job they don't have.

Its a real mess. There is no easy answer but if they continue doing this, they will push good people to the brink and it will become chaos and possibly civil war.
