I don't know the CCW laws in Portland, but this probably doesn't fly in FL...

I'm a bit surprised, in a good way, that we're 30 posts in and I haven't seen "cucks" used once...

Its a real mess. There is no easy answer but if they continue doing this, they will push good people to the brink and it will become chaos and possibly civil war.
I don't quite agree. To have a war, you have to have 2 sides with staying power.

I don't think that even the most hard-core Antifa dudes in that video are going to keep coming after one of them gets killed.

I moved because eventually I would knock one of these guys out and I would get killed.

At the end of the video the guy hits the truck in the back and the lady directing traffic even said.. "oooohh., dammit". They KNOW what they are doing is wrong and they still do it!!!!

I want to ask the mayor who I send my bill to cause my time is expensive. I swear if I truly ever get caught up in something like that and lose serious time,. I will be on the mayors doorstep asking him where to send the invoice to.

When is enough enough and we are allowed to take back our streets??????

And for anyone who wants to say protesting is legal, I'm all for protesting. But there are good ways and bad ways. Anyone who thinks this is a good way is living in a bubble....

Totally agree. It’s infuriating. Driving to the airport this morning and just looking at the tents all over the place drives me nuts too. No, i am not saying it’s an easy solution out there and no we can’t just lock everyone up but dammit let’s go. Who runs this place? We have .001% of the population living in tents and doing what they want and we all just drive around them like “shhh don’t wake up the people in the tents they’re sleeping”. I’m sick of it. Same with the protestors. It’s simple. You break a law you get arrested. Last I checked we aren’t allowed to just stand in streets hitting cars with bats.

Great point.

This Anifa group are nothing but a bunch of cowards! Mob dirt bags!
If Portland tolerates this group they are being held honstage the extreme left mayor won’t do a damn thing to stop them.

Legit question, as I haven't been there for either but I've been "aggressively panhandled" the last couple of times I've been back...

Did the Occupy movement get like this? Or was it just needles and rapes and garbage and feces, but they left you alone?

Interesting take from overseas: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-45442596

I wonder the impression it's having on my kids. I try to keep it real basic: money and bad luck and mental illness and drugs/alcohol. But in reality, I think it is changing a lot of us. I used to be much more compassionate, much much more. But the garbage has gotten to me. Fucking needles on the playgrounds. People smoking meth all over. Gross.

Protests can't be destructive. If they are destructive they become riots. Singing songs and chanting with signs because you believe strongly in something=fine; organized marches=totally fine. Touching anyone or anything with bad intent, fucking with my commute=fuck that. Taunting, feigning violence, holding a bat, calling strangers crazy things=bizarro and fucked. The video above still bothers me.

Occupy was the same shit. I just think they have gotten more aggressive over time. They still incited shit at the occupy movement though when all that was going on. It's only gotten worse

In your opinion, what's the "punishment" or "correction" for that behavior? Most normal people would say that's bad. But is it "jail time" bad? "Community Service and Fine" bad? "Police Beatdown to disperse?" These people didn't just make a mistake, they're somehow messed up in the head thinking this is cool. Even the girl that was out there trying to be "polite" was not calling out the bad behavior.

Overseas, there are different ways to deal militarily with this stuff. I'm partially glad I don't have to (get to) here, and I'm not trained for it like cops are, but you can't let this stuff go free. That reminded me of Tombstone where Curly Bill's gang was running roughshod over the town and the sheriffs didn't want to do anything to disturb them. Took the OK corral and the posses to figure it all out.

I can tell you what would happen if Antifa came do my neighborhood and did this shit!
My community made up of all kinds of people that have respect for one another (freedom) would flat out run em out with what ever it took!

Remember these people call themselves antifa yet they do some of the most fascist shit I ever saw. Directing traffic? trying to control people and tell them what to do? who are these losers?
Exactly. Forget politics for a second, just go back to history. The Brownshirts (who Antifa is, knowingly or unknowingly, modeling themselves after) were those who did "criminal mischief" at the local level, intimidated votes, etc. in order to get the Nazis elected. Even the most jackbooted of khaki-wearing, white-robe-in-my-closet KKK protesters isn't assaulting Congresspeople in their office, or blocking off streets, or organizing paid riots.

If directing traffic is the most fascist shit you've ever seen, then you haven't seen much fascist shit.

I am saying in general, thisis what they do. The complete opposite of being anti fascists in any protest from them I have seen. They want control, they try to control whether it's destroying shit and making blockades, as you see here manipulating traffic, basically control over others lives as if they are the authority, they have zero respect for others and are most likely made up of a bunch of sociopaths

To me it's not even about politics at this point even though everybody will make it about politics because that's all the country does today. KKK is bad, Antifa is as well. Both offer nothing to society. They are groups made up of fucked up people most likely due to how they were raised and add whatever mental illness they develop. It's fucked. Nobody should support these groups. On topic to this video though, it's amazing to me nobody was out there to stop them and get them the fuck off the street. I understand though at the same time because they are crazy. Makes me ashamed this shit was in Portland because these clips went viral last night and today especially.

I don't know, man. I'm really against police use of force. And equally against civilian use of force against police. Probably first would be a calm, and I emphasize calm, officer to approach the protestors and let them know what laws they are breaking and insist they disperse or risk arrest. Good naturedly. I mean those guys are imbeciles, but I believe law enforcement needs to at least pretend to be understanding of everyone. Wait 10 minutes. If they haven't dispersed approach again with an "are you sure?" and if not? Of course arrest them. Hold them overnight and give them community service. Fucking with other civilians with essentially threat of violence shouldn't be part of your protest.

That being said, I don't think that approach is always the approach. The post-election marches just needed to be herded and monitored. There were way too many people involved to safely interfere. I think they did a good job in Portland of watching the video of the people destroying property and finding them after the fact and charging them accordingly.

And who is Hitler in your analogy?

Not since 2010 or so, anyway.

My granddaughter was harassed because she had a shirt that said “Youth for Christ”just walking with a grind and mother. She was grabbed!
Her mother called police once they got home and of course there wasn’t much they could do.
These guys are the brown shirt Nazis that are not interested in God and Country, plus they are lazy ass punks that have no work ethic or respect!

I like how that when that fucker told the guy from NC to get out of here, he said Oregon wrong.

I haven't even heard of the Patriot's Prayer people being out and marching in a long time, so why exactly are these Antifa people still out on the streets going nuts anyway?

The city does nothing about them, so why would they want to leave.

So are they mostly homeless people then? Sorry for the dumb questions, but I don't live up there and am still shocked by all the tents on sidewalks I saw when I was up there. You see homeless people in like parks and stuff here, but it's obviously on a whole nother level there.

I don't know what the %'s are, but I would bet that most of them are homeless.

I'm not sure that was even antifa. It was a protest after the cops shot someone.

That was probably a protest supporting a move to deny campus cops the right to carry firearms.

Different cop shooting I think. But I was out of town at the time so not sure.

Work downtown and do my best to be friendly to the homeless when an opportunity presents itself. Last guy I spoke with thanked me for just talking to him. He said he wants to work but there's just "too many good drugs" in Portland. Moved here earlier this year from Louisiana.

Actually shocked when I read the "good drugs" thing. Not expecting that.

Of course it does. Last year we passed measure 26-141, which made antifa the official city police force effective July 1. This is normal.

barfo

Wrong. It was effective July 4th.
