1) Pick up Ramon Sessions off of free agency
2) Pick up Eric Gordon with a large contract (definitely not max, but close)
3) Re-sign Batum
4) Re-sign Hickson

You guys eat and breathe cap logic so I wanted to see if this was even feasible. I have no clue regarding NBA cap stuff. Thanks

Portland has about 12.5 million in cap space. They could renounce Hickson and either both Euros or stretch amnesty Williams and get to 18ish million. They also have to hope like hell that Batum doesn't sign with a team right away because once we match, if we match, that goes against our cap. You would probably have to pay Gordon somewhere in the 12ish range, I am betting, and Sessions at 6 million would be iffy at best. I say not very feesible

In theory it could be, but I'm not sure the numbers work. The only way to do Hickson is if we have his bird rights, but then we have to have his cap hold too. I don't think Gordon and Sessions would fit in the cap space we would have. If they did, then in theory you could match offers for Batum and Hickson and get it done. But, you would have to have Gordon and Sessions signed first. Logistically it would be very complicated. Adding in Sessions complicates it.

Thanks all. I knew it would probably be pie in the sky, but it never hurts to spitball once in a while.

please no Sessions. Dragic if we grab a FA PG

He's my first choice as well, but what about some others like

Aaron Brooks RFA
Jameer Nelson PO
George Hill RFA
Jerryd Bayless RFA (You guys knew I would bring his name up)
Mo Williams PO

Just throwing names on the wall. Any of those float your boat?

I like Hill even though I think he is more of a SG and I like Nelson more then Sessions. Neither one is a really great pickup for the price they'd be (I assume we'd have to pay Hill at least 8m to get indiana to not match)

It's not a very strong list. You can drop the last two as they are marginal NBA players- better suited as victory cigars. The first three are 'meh', but if nothing else I'd be willing to give Brooks a try if he can be had for a song.

C'mon, BP.

Marginal? You may not like their games, but 17.80 and 15.02 PER are hardly marginal. Both had a big enough sample size to show those numbers are pretty legit.

How is Mo Williams a marginal NBA player, he's arguably the best player on that list.

I believe it is an emotional response. I know I have never made a judgement on a player or coach based on how they play or coach the game, but others might :D

I think Mo Williams could be an acceptable starting option if we aren't able to bring in a Deron, Nash, Dragic, Lowry, Collision level of veteran. He should be cheaper. I'd definetely offer Aaron Brooks the backup spot, but we shouldn't look at signing him unless the superior free agents are all off the board and Brooks is willing to accept a smaller salary deal.
