For next season only irrespective of contract these are the only SG I'd rather have:

Harden
Wade
Kobe
Reddick
Thompson
Afflalo
Joe Johnson

So I guess that shockingly makes Wesley the 8th best NBA SG in my book. What say you?

I would add:
Manu (old, but still effective)
Gordon Hayward
Gerald Henderson
Kevin Martin
Iguodala (although I guess you could call him a 3)
Tony Allen
Bradley Beal
Oladipo (probably)

Perhaps others?

Where is the list of starters? I see a couple SFs ^

Well those are fine choices, yes I consider Iggy a 3, I think you can make legit arguments each way. Haywood, Beal, Oladipo are much more valuable for the long term since they are younger and might improve but for just next season I'm taking Wes. KMart is horrific on defense and Tony Allen is horrific on offense, better to have a player that can do something on both ends.

Gordon Hayward? Offensively they were just about dead even. Defensively, it isn't even close as Matthews actually plays defense. Kevin Martin is a chucker whose value has really fallen in recent years.

Don't forget about Terrence Ross.:pimp:

id rather have wes than klay i think next year
and joe johnson as well
and afflalo

i like haywards offense, but meh, maybe

heres wes, klay, redick, joe johnson, beal, and hayward ( also ran afflalo and hendersons numbers seperately)

http://www.basketball-reference.com...013&p5=redicjj01&y5=2013&p6=matthwe02&y6=2013

he has the highest ts% and eFG% of that group, lowest usage, most steals, least turnovers 2nd most win shares...its not a slam dunk, but id take him next year over all of them i think
i think id take

harden
wade
kobe
maybe manu
maybe hayward (not sure about his d, dont know)

fuckin a, wessy is a top 5 SG???

the real caveat is NEXT year, obviously gordon/beal/klay would be drafted first in a fantasy draft or whatever, but yeah

although id take oladipo over him just because

No. Sorry for all those who agree with me because now your opinion is shit

i might take lou williams actually, always had a haron for that guy

For next season only, these SG's I'd rather have for various reasons

Wade
Bryant
Harden
Hayward
Henderson
Williams
Iguodala
Thompson
Dudley
DeRozen
Redick
Beal
Sefolosha

I also think Jeremy Lamb will be better than Matthews soon

As I opened this thread I immediately said to myself no fucking way is he in the top 10 and quickly voted that way. And I still believe that.

However the more I look at everyone's lists, the less confident I become. He isn't that far off.
Where did all the great SG's go? I knew it was dwindling but damn......No wonder so many teams are starting to use two PG's at the same time. Not many SG's on those lists that make me scream
"CJ and Damian can defend the position". They are going to have a much tougher time guarding the quick PG's in this league.

Back to Wes......he is still not top 10 but I am glad we kept him.

I would love to have Iggy paired with batum. I think Iggy would show batum how real men play the wing.

Matthews is one of those players that doesn't have a high skill set; but plays at a 110% of his talent. Maybe even more.

There are a shit ton of players way more talented than Matthews: but play to 50-65% of their potential. Also, the SG spot usually has the most arrogant of the players, usually selfish, and chucks. Matthews plays within the team philosophy and hardly ever forces anything.

Well I don't think I'd want Bryant next year, but I can't fault your list ... although I tend to see everything on this list below Harden, Wade and (healthy) Bryant as kind of a kludge of "OK, but not great" players -- also, I'd probably throw Tony Allen in there somewhere.

Forgot about Allen for sure.

I have Kobe there because I'd like his expiring contract

He's in purgatory with a shitload of other interchangeable SGs. Outside of Kobe, Wade, and Harden, there really aren't any good SGs in the league. You could have Matthews ranked anywhere from 4-20 and you wouldn't really be wrong.

The SG is the weakest position in the NBA atm.

So you would rather have an expiring contract? But nobody will ever sign here! :MARIS61:

Yeah that’s how I see the future of the league the next 5 years, lots of PG’s playing the SG position. Many teams with PG’s on the bench that play both guard spots for extended minutes. There are so many productive PG’s you see guys like Darren Collison signing for $1million and Mo Williams without any team showing interest.

There used to be an accepted belief in the NBA that C and PG were the two hardest positions to fill; well C still is but PG might now be the easiest.

There were 11 SGs who scored 15+ PPG last season. A bunch more 10+.

Paul George, OJ Mayo, JR Smith are better, IMO. Jamal Crawford, too.

Yes, I think he is.

He may not be able to create his own shot like some but he will always continue to improve. His effort and attitude are invaluable to this team.
