I didn't realize how weak the SG crop has become though. Just looking at some of the names, it's like the PG position of the mid-2000's. Funny how things can flip that quickly.
You've got Bryant, Wade, Harden, and then a lot of players with glaring flaws, and even in that three player group, two of the three guys are questionable because of their injuries.
I really wouldn't want guys like ISO-Joe on my team, nor Monta Ellis, O.J. Mayo, or Tyreke Evans.
I also think Eric Gordon could be an elite SG, but he needs to be in a better situation and have a better attitude.
Evan Turner is considered a bust by a lot of people, but I liked his game before he was drafted high, and I like it just as much as I did then. He's a well-rounded, do-everything wing that will probably have a 10-13 year career (barring injury) and really deserves a lot more respect in this league. He's still only 24 years old, and I wouldn't be surprised in the least if he became an All-Star at some point in his career.
For everything Allen gives my Grizz in heart, hustle, and defense, you can't overlook the offense. At the sake of being called a fanboy though, I'd still take him in a second over Matthews. I've seen some great defenders over the years, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone who can lock down the other team's best player in the 1-3 spots like Allen can. He's not a good defender, nor is he a great defender... he's an elite defender that should have won three straight DPOY's by now. Also, even though he's prone to miss wide open lay-ups, he's also the guy that will fly out of nowhere to keep an offensive play alive, so he's not a total wash offensively.
Anyway, the idea of a "top 10" is too confining for this current group of SG's. I think a better way to look at it would be a tier system, with Kobe, Wade, and Harden on the First Tier. The gap between those guys and any of the other listed SG's is pretty large at the moment.
